Canon 40D

Has anyone tried using a Canon 40D, tethered to a laptop, for video capture?
Just downloaded eos_movrec, and while it does work, there is not a lot of info out there on using it to its fullest.

Testing it today, revealed varying results, dependant not on the camera, but on the speed on the computer and how much ram is installed.

My desktop, chugged, while my partners sang.
My laptop, is quite fast, but gave some iffy results, will have to see why the FPS, were low here, about 9FPS, but upto 23fps, on my partners desktop, with almost the same specs as my laptop.

Anyone else want to chime in on this?
