Light kit Ideas for you- and me.
 

Hi. I am the Chimera Guy. I was once the Photoflex guy. I have been the BH guy as well.. I am also a filmmaker guy. Chris who makes this site possible and his wranglers and partners.. well they are awesome.

Let me tell you what I think most of you budding filmmakers need.

Look at
The Chimera 8000 or 8005 kit - 24x32 bank with 40 degree www.lighttool.com grids, Avenger A630B Stand. 500 or 1000 watt bulb with Mogul Socket.. our light and a carry bag.
I ask you to consider this kit because it is a great deal. Let me know I can help you find a dealer of drop ship you a kit.

Look at a Bogen convertable boom A 420B?
Look at a Arri 650Plus or Dedo or Mole Baby for hair and a control light.

Look at a good reflector, maybe a Chimera Light panel or a Lastolite or Westcott fold up.

A decent cheap stand for your reflector like Bogen 3333 -
You will need a disc holder or grip head for the Chimera panel kit.
If you shoot lots of DV look for the ENG kit #5630

A tota with barndoors for Gels and for backgrounds and another Bogen 3333.

You can't go wrong. Start with the softlight and grow.

FYI on BH Photo Video NYC. The Super Super Store
 

I just wanted to say that I know BH pretty well and I can tell you that they work really hard to take care of every customer and every order.
Yes they are huge but I have never seen them ignore a real problem or do anything that is less than honorable.

The other thing is the sales people who work at BH know their stuff and don't worry about commision. So if you call and say.. I have $500 dollars what camera should I buy, the camera they suggest is completly based on their knowledgable opinion. Other than that you can buy whatever you want. So try to know what you want.. it could be a model or features you are seeking but try to have some idea of your needs.
So when they say what do you want?
Its really because they need to know to help them help you.

So if I was you plan your attack and perhaps split up your group and get walky talkies for 30bucks

Or split up your days. But try to make a schedule and if you need to see me or any vendor I know I will try to help with contacts to save you time.
