I would CONSIDER sending gear to well established member of this community prior to payment being sent. I will have to figure that out with potential buyer as we go though. One favor; please don’t call me an idiot for doing this. I already feel like one for unloading my stuff at a loss anyway. Thank you.

Hi Tyge-

Sent email too.

Brian - thanks for the reply. I was looking for standard AC plug lights, but if this i-Light has an option to go AC I'll consider it. Do you know if it's possible to power it from a wall plug?

The easiest thing is if you happen to have an Anton Bauer AC charger with a PowerTap receptacle. That works fine.

If not, any AC to 12vDC power source should work. The tricky part is to mate with the PowerTap connector. Anton Bauer sells a female PowerTap adapter kit which you could probably use to fashion an appropriate cable (Anton Bauer | Female PowerTap Kit - Adapts any 12 | FPOWERTAPKIT). Or, you could just snip the PowerTap connector off the Lowel cable and splice in whatever connector you need.

You'd think there'd be a simple, more elegant solution, but I haven't found one so far.

Ethan Cooper January 29th, 2009 03:37 PM

From a quick search on B&H it doesn't appear that they sell an accessory that adapts the light to AC power. Is this correct?

**EDIT**
Disregard the previous statement, we must have posted about the same time and you answered that question with your post.

I'll pass for now since I don't already have any AB chargers that would have a PowerTap receptacle and I don't feel like complicating matters trying to make the light simply plug into the wall. Thanks for the info, and thanks for offering your light for sale but it's just not for me.

Brian Standing January 29th, 2009 03:40 PM

I just did the same search! Nope, not that I can find. Seems kind of odd, doesn't it?

It does seem odd, but I'm no electrician so maybe it's more difficult to do than it seems and keep it within code.

Brian Standing January 29th, 2009 03:53 PM

No problem, Ethan. I do have a couple of the AC-powered Lowel Pro Lights as well, but I use them all the time, and really don't want to part with them!

They're great lights, very versatile. If you don't find any used, new ones are pretty inexpensive. Excellent value, since Lowel ships them with a lot of extras -- I recommend them highly. Oddly, Lowel sells adapter cables to run the Pro Lights off of DC current (you have to switch out the bulbs, too) but not to do the opposite with the i-Light. Go figure!

Good luck finding something that meets your needs.

Ethan Cooper January 29th, 2009 04:07 PM

Thanks Brian, I'm a cheapskate so I always look used first if I can. I've used both Lowel and Arri lights when I worked with another company and for small heads I'm not sure that the Pro's can be beat for the money. Very versatile indeed, small enough to hide on a set and they travel well. Love those little guys.

I do however have a special hatred for Totas. They're of satan, and when paired with one of Lowel's lighter fluid umbrellas... yuck. Whatever, this isn't about the evil little Totas, this is about me getting some lights on the cheap.

Anyone getting rid of a half decent head and softbox (lightbank) combo in the 750 - 1000 watt range?

More like Ancient-In-Box...

I THINK it's the 950 that you want, if memory serves. That should give you SP playback and both cassette sizes.

Reduced to £125 - a steal on the new price.

Martin Drew January 30th, 2009 08:35 AM

Boxed. Hardly any use from new. I bought this to use along side a Blackmagic HDlink as a live monitor for my EX1. In the end I haven't needed that live feed so it has spent most of its short life turned off. I have had lots of interest in this from overseas but I reckon it isn't really viable to send it out of the country, just ends up being too expensive. It really needs a nice home in the UK.

Final price reduction

Camera for $2,150 plus shipping

Package for $3,100 plus 1/2 shipping costs up to $100

I'm sorry, but I can not and will not go lower. Too low already for my taste anyway. Sorry, but it is nice gear. I'm trying to do the best I can here but I'm already an idiot for buying this stuff only to turn around and sell for around half what I paid after minimal use. I refuse to be a bigger idiot (great bumper sticker)
