yes still looking... does anyone know the official product code for this, as I've seen some possiblities on ebay but want to get the right one. I'm not looking for an inner thread hood, but an outer lock thread hood, in hard plastic, as comes with the cameras xl1/2

These are the DVDs and book by Vegas guru Douglas Spotted Eagle. Now, they're both for Vegas 4, but make for nice primers even if you're running later versions. Also includes a Vegas 5 intro DVD plus workalong projects DVD with the book.

I believe I have a copy of Elements laying around... how important is it that it be unregistered? I installed it a while back, but didn't use it much. Now I have PS 6 installed instead.

Hey David. I was in the same boat last year. Canon is the ONLY place I was able to find it. They will give you the product code, but I could not find one place that had it besides them. I was determined to not spend the $80 so, I bought a used 16x XL-1 lens with the same hood, kept the hood and then sold the lens on Evilbay without a hood. (it was clearly sold as not including the hood.) I got lucky and broke even. Good luck.
