asking $3250

Ken Grohs September 19th, 2007 09:15 AM

It would be nice if you could provide, or point to, video shot with your FX1 that shows the discrepency that you'd mentioned above.

Better safe than sorry, and it's best if the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. Prevents disputes after the transaction.

I received many PM regarding the modification. I can get all the parts for you guys and send it to anywhere in the world. Only thing is that it is not oxidised and you have to get the Universal Block from Cinevate. If you want it oxidisied, you got to wait 3 days more. It will still be rubber padded.

40 euros for the non oxidisied parts. 50 euros for oxidisied parts

Paypal only. Registered Shipping is included.

I'm interested... any more wiggle room on the price?

Eric Holloway September 19th, 2007 11:33 AM

I really couldn't drop the price more than it is. The brand new unit is $700 and this is in great condition and hardly used.

Thanks Steve, but I can get a used one from B&H for $899.00, so I was hoping for something a little cheaper.

Plug in Microphone system sold.

Darin Boville September 19th, 2007 12:28 PM

Hi Ken,

I agree 100%--tried to make it sound a little worse than it really is (on purpose).

So went back and found a few examples where it shows. Then, strangely, I also found an example where I recut the footage and it has disappeared. Then I looked at several recent things I shot and didn't see it. I don't know what to make of it--for safety sake I will still say that it is a camera fault, so buyer beware, but I really don't know. In any event, it is a minor problem, for my application.

Here is an example where it shows:

http://video.photodemocracy.org/Coas...s_Slide_Closed

And here is a version I recut from those same tapes a year later where it has inexplicably vanished:

http://www.montarafog.com/video/720q...ad_Closed_x720

(If anyone can solve the mystery I'd be interested to know!

FEELER: Canon XL-H1

Hi,

So I have just budgeted for the RED camera and will be planning on acquiring one for a feature film shoot I'll be doing next year. Originally, that is what the Canon XL-H1 was intended for, but now, I am looking to possiby sell this camera.

I really do love this camera, so at this point, this is a feeler just to see if there is any interest in this camera. Let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

Dave Robinson September 20th, 2007 02:23 AM

Yeah sorry should have mentioned that. I'd like something as close to standard as possible so no fancy bits added on, but obviously all the factory packaged bits that came with it new would be nice.

And, yes, Pal please.

Eric Shepherd September 20th, 2007 03:55 AM

Hi Mike,

Have you considered a cheap consumer miniDV camcorder? Most decks are super expensive. You could buy a small handful (unless you have really big hands!) of cameras for the cost of one.

I bought a canon mini dv camera with an extended 4 year warranty for $330. It does nothing but capture. I would estimate that it has captured and or printed to tape for about 400 hours a single problem. If it does break, all I have to do is take it back to Circuit City and they will give me store credit for the price of the camera.

Good deal! Those extended warranties usually aren't worth getting, but if it's something that will see a lot of use, it's worthwhile. :)

Steve Rosen September 20th, 2007 11:06 AM

Michael: I've had my XL H1, which is in like-new condidition, as well as a 16x and a 6x for sale for over a month with no serious response (I bought an HPX500)... Admittedly, I have been asked for pictures, which I haven't been able to supply because I've been extremely busy.

I, too, really like this camera, and haven't been overly aggressive in trying to sell it - I'd rather keep it than give it away at a bargain-basement price..

Probably discouraging news, but certainly there must be people out there that want a good proven camera at a price several thousand dollars below retail...

Chris Hurd September 20th, 2007 11:11 AM

Frankly I don't think "pictures" should be required from any long-term member in good standing here. I just don't see what difference it makes. Tell you what though, I've been thinking about opening an adjacent forum specifically for member's Ebay links. This would be a paid service, but it won't cost very much; just some token fee for listing items for auction on Ebay. That might help move things quicker. I haven't even proposed this idea to our forum moderators yet, but have been thinking pretty hard about it.

Lowell Oswald September 20th, 2007 11:17 AM

Vence Vida September 20th, 2007 12:34 PM

Steve,

My inquiry into your camera was a serious one. I have 3 jobs this fall that all require 3 matching cameras, so I need 2 more XL H1s, Vinten tripods, lens controllers, HD monitors, etc. to match the set-up of the one I currently have. I did ask for pictures and would still welcome them. Chris, as far as whether that should be required, let me quote myself from Steve's original sale thread:

______________
"Obviously, it's not so much a picture of the camera that I want/need to see (I own one already), it's the "focus gear" and "custom built mini-rod/shoulder mount base and 15mm rods" in Steve's description that I'd like to be able to visualize.

Although I will say, after buying and selling a lot of gear on the internet, some on this forum, it's always safer for both parties to have seen photos before hand, so no one can say, "Hey, you never mentioned this or that..." about the condition of the item."
______________

I stand by this. I'm looking to drop about 35,000 dollars over the next month or so on used gear. I would be foolish to accept it all "sight-unseen." My business partners would have a cow! I'll be the one putting my money at risk by sending a PayPal transfer for thousands of dollars before getting to see the actual gear. The least the seller can do is supply a few pics so I can see the condition of the item and especially what the add-ons are before I pay for them. I honestly don't think that's unreasonable.

Michael,
Obviously, I am one person at least, who has their eyes open for H1s for sale at a good price. I'm not in a huge rush (yet) so I'm taking my time considering offers. I still have Steve's thread bookmarked as a hot possibility. I have seen several others over the last few weeks on this forum and on another where I am also a member. I bought the one I have now on this forum and will probably buy 2 more sometime soon.

-Vence

Michael Galvan September 20th, 2007 01:07 PM

Thanks guys for the responses.

Yes, I completely agree with you Steve. What makes me not so aggressive at this point is the fact that I really like this camera and it is certainly good enough for the feature film I have in mind for it. But I was going over the proposed budget, and after outfitting the camera with the P+S technik mini along with Cooke S4's and shooting uncompressed out, we are suddenly within RED price territory (in rental terms), along with the fact that a friend is getting one too that we can possibly use.

So I'll entertain the thought of selling it if there is really any interest out there. Please let me know Vence, if you'd like to inquire further about the camera.

Darin Boville September 20th, 2007 01:35 PM

Fully granted of course. Allow me to suggest that it's safer for both parties to have also spoken by telephone at least once, and if at all possible, to meet in person as well.

Chris,

I couldn't agree more. I definitely always speak on the phone for anything over a few hundred bucks. I would love to be able to meet with the sellers, but being in the mid-west, I don't run into very many people within a decent driving distance. Most of you are out in California or somewhere more metropolitan like NY, Dallas, DC, etc. Although the H1 I currently have, I purchased from a member in Mississsippi, and oddly enough, there is another H1 for sale from a guy named Jad who is also in Mississippi that I am considering.

I just missed buying an XL H1 from a dvxuser.com member in Virgina who let his go for $5000! Unbelievable! The guy who bought it lived in West Virginia and was able to jump in the car and go meet him. Even though it would have been a 2 day trip for me, I definitely considered it.

Michael,

You can definitely email me details about what exactly you might want to sell and how much you need to get out of it. I'd be happy to hear from you.
