all you need is the DSR-11...which should be the cheapest rental (it's the cheapest deck)....so if the DSR-20 is cheaper than go for that. Also, while you have the deck, do yourself a favor and run off a bunch of tapes, so you don't have to go through this again. ;)

Just make sure when you get it, you scroll through the deck menu and highlight DVCAM...if not it will record as DV (regardless of the tape).

ALSO...if you do get the dsr-11, I'm pretty sure you need the remote control to get to the menu, so make sure that comes with it.

Thanks for looking guys. Until I repost this tripod here again, if I repost this ad again, I have to end this ad because it's going up for auction on ebay.

Thanks again,

Eric

DVCam tapes come in two different physical sizes. The 'mini-dv' cassette size, and the larger size, which are more like three times the size of a mini DV cassette. You want the larger size, as they can record up to 184 minutes, I think, maybe more. You can get a 94 minute tape for about twenty bucks. (They also come with or without the 'chip' the records meta-data for sony)

The DSR11 will record on either size, and it's the 'bottom of the line' of the decks you mentioned. (I own one.) The DSR 20 is the next step up, but for your purposes, not really needed... but if it's closer and cheaper, sure.

So, first LOCATE a source for the Tapes then locate/rent the deck then dub away.

Another Colonial? Who wants an XL2?

Gee. Maybe we should start a Colony XL2 User's Group. Just an idea. I'd like to spend some time talking shop and trading hints.

FS in US: Canon XL1

I bought this used from someone on this board about 2 years ago. He said he bought it new and it had no more than 10 hours on it, mostly because he found it too cumbersome for kids' school videos and such, and because he preferred still photography.

Then I turned around and immediately bought a tape-free (memory card) HD camera instead, because I wanted to avoid dealing with tape. So I never even used the camera beyond shooting 15 minutes of tape to make sure it worked well. It has been in its case in a closet ever since.

I would prefer to sell this in the local area (New Jersey/New York City) so I don't have to deal with shipping.

I know what I paid (about $2k) and I know what I can get at B&H (about $1k) so somewhere inbetween would be nice.

I'd also consider a trade, depending on the camera.

I have a few extras (case, Manfrotto tripod) but I can keep those for other things, or throw them in. I'm keeping this general because I doubt there is much interest, but I can provide more specifics to interested parties.

Thanks,
Chris

Another bump, lowered the price to 600$. Come on, nobody owning a Canon XL1, 2 or H1 wants to get one of the only 35mm adapter that fits directly on their XL mount?

Mike Meyerson January 22nd, 2008 09:57 AM

It's not the Mojo-SDI is it?

If it is, I'll take it.

Dave Robinson January 22nd, 2008 10:24 AM

Prices are negotiable to an extent by the way.

FS: Century Optics Fisheye for FX-1, Bayonet Style.....$225

This lense has no marks on it from what I can see, only getting rid of it because I own an EX-1 and this does not fit it. Asking $225 B&H has for $499, just trying to get rid of it, there is no problem with it.

Could you email me some photos? and also a photo that shows how much vignetting occurs?

bansheeproductions(AT)shaw.ca

Pat

Michael Stewart January 22nd, 2008 03:01 PM

I have never had any noticeable vignetting, the photo is the same as the B&H photo, I can send a photo to show the actual item if need be, cant send a photo of how it vignettes, it is bayonet. You can see on this video that the outer edges are not dark, even though the clip is low quality, it is straight footage.

Sorry, can't do as the computer wouldn't have a graphics card to go in the AGP slot (needs a card there to run.)

FS-US: Nikon MF Primes

Hello all

Upgrading some of my lens system and so have these Nikon manual focus primes for sale.

Really good in a 35mm DOF setup.
Photos to those who are seriously interested.

Nikkor 105mm/2.5, caps, Hoya 52mm Skylight 1Bfilter, Nikon HS-8 steel lens shade exc. $180. Perfect longer portrait lens.

Nikkor 105mm/4 Micro, caps, exc. $290. This is, IMO, the best of the Nikon micros. Longer focal length means more distance between camera and subject, and more room to get lighting in between.

Nikkor 85mm/1.4, caps, very good, clean glass, fantastic bokeh, $650. Very fast mid tele, excellent DOF characteristics.

Nikkor 50mm/1.2, caps, very good, clean glass, very fast lens, $390. IMO sharper and better bokeh than the much more expensive Noct Nikkor.

Paypal okay, freightage and insurance or cash and carry Los Angeles area.

Entire set for $1460 and I'll throw in a homemade DOF box, spinning GG design. Needs a little TLC and a 15mm base, but otherwise works very well. DOF box on its own, with spares - $100.
