Frank-

Which of those three is the best?

Frank Granovski April 15th, 2004 04:35 PM

Videographer Magazine, in my opinion. For the DV greenhorn, ComputerVideo. (Forget Videomaker.)

Note: Videographer (CMP), DV Mag (CMP) and ComputerVideo are all owned by Miller.

I like DV the best. Sometimes though, Videomaker has a worthwhile article covering video basics. It doesn't hurt to thumb through them, while drinking cappucino at Barnes and Noble bookstore ;) You'll find the one that fits you best.

Videomaker even has free issues, trying to get you to subscribe. DV sometimes has free subscriptions. I just got a second year for free.

Mike Rehmus April 15th, 2004 07:14 PM

Videography and DV Mag are free if you are an industry 'pro,' or so they say. I don't pay for any of them and I didn't have to ask. The subs were offered. I do not know why except I did attend a couple of trade shows.

K. Forman April 15th, 2004 08:00 PM

Sounds about right, Mike. Other than that, I couldn't figure out why I got it.

How do I obtain a free "pro" subscription to DV Magazine and Videographer Mag?

Anyone know the web site for Videographer Mag?

Searched google and couldn't find it.

TIA.

Industry magazines

What magazines/newletters do you consider as great reading material?

I try to read American Cinematographer, SHOOT magazine, DV Magazine and Cinefex (for in depth efx stuff).

What do you read as inspiration/helpful material?

Ken Tanaka November 24th, 2004 09:51 PM

What are your specific interests and needs?

Brandon Murphy November 25th, 2004 12:21 AM

I try to obtain a range of material for both the video and film world. A lot of video industry material and some hollywood movie stuff. I am particularly interested in material that leans towards independent video/film making.

Keith Loh November 25th, 2004 12:13 PM

I don't read any technical industry magazines as I'm leaning away from production and more toward development. So for inspriation I read "Film Comment", the film magazine of the Lincoln Center society. For the other fluffy entertainment I can get more by reading online sources.

Which Videography Magazine do you read?

Hi folks.

I just picked up two recent Videography and Videomaker magazine but can’t decide which one to subscribe to. What video magazine do you read?

Boyd Ostroff November 29th, 2004 09:37 AM

VideoMaker.... isn't that the one which is sort of hobby-oriented? Haven't read it much. I pick up Videography magazine at the newstand from time to time. I think perhaps it's only published quarterly or bi-monthly? My only subscription is to DV magazine.

Patrick Jenkins November 29th, 2004 09:44 AM

FilmMaker

and when it's at the local newsstand, Camcorder & Computer Video
