Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

For weddings, today - right now - 4K is, without question, practical. You may have a different question, but for me: 1 4K camera = 2 HD cameras. Just do the math and use the tools that help you...

That's a great shot. Dreamy even.

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Well, it's finally back! The lens seems to be in good working order with my C100 now. 37 days, counting weekends may be normal - but it felt like forever! Oh yeah, that's not even counting the first...

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

I borrowed another 70-200 to test - worked fine...don't know what that means!

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Thanks for chiming in, Paul.

I haven't been able to find anyone else who *does have the issue. I'd love to co-miserate but apparently I am the chosen one.

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Well, that didn't fix the issue. Despite being certain that it just *had to be the 70-200mm, it isn't. They're escalating this to some ENGs to see what they think before we ship everything (as in...

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Waiting for FedEx to deliver the "fixed" lens...it seems if they can't find you on a Saturday, they wait 3 more days to punish you.

Great looking stuff. Not your "typical" Phantom Footage imho.

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Lens is v1, and I've sent it in for a check up. I put this video together to show them, but they didn't need it. I don't think I've discovered anything new and unique - it's a very popular lens +...

70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

My 70-200mm 2.8L IS works great on the 5D. Having just acquired the C100 DAF I was excited to try the lens. Turns out it's possessed. Sometimes it will work a bit, but eventually the iris locks at...

Re: C100 very noisy

BTW, I re-shot with a 50mm 1.2 and am blown away. Here's a quick shot with the moon in it - and it's not really even the reason I'm still stunned at how clean this is, but wanted to follow up and...

Re: C100 very noisy

Here's a clip from a night after a rain at ISO 80k and I think Wide DG. I was trying to film the fireflies...that really didn't work out, but I was stuck on f4. I'll try this later w/ a 50mm 1.2 and...

Re: PF24 to 24P work around, C100 & FCP X

Technically I don't actually know, but it's interesting that the actual conversion sucks more than the on the fly conversion. And that may be b/c of the settings. Here's a screenshot where you can...

Re: C100 doesnt stop the DSLR pose

I actually enjoy/prefer this behavior.

It keeps people from acting stupid. If they think you're "making a video" (I mean "Who Needs a Movie!") then acting up suddenly seems appropriate. For me,...

PF24 to 24P work around, C100 & FCP X

So for my first test shoot with my new C100 I, for reasons I still cannot comprehend, used PF24 for the framerate with a 59.94 system set.

That's just the dumbest thing you could do, for most...

Re: Shutter speed choice for C100 PF

I probably won't do anything with it, actually. FCP X will just make the timeline conform to the video; I have already used a sharpie to black out PF24 on the LCD to make sure I never, ever choose...

Re: Hot swapping lenses, one more time...

That could be a pretty cool effect...obviously, you've done it quite a bit. I have little intention of powering off to switch lenses - however, one thing I found that dramatically reduced the number...

Re: Help with C100 exposure

I agree with Al - use the waveform; assign it to more convenient button. It's spot on. Of course I've shot for 40 minutes with my new C100, so you might not want to believe me - try it.

Re: Shutter speed choice for C100 PF

As I sit and stare at a bin full of clips 29.97fps of my brand new C100 test footage, I'll admit, I'm a little stunned - at just how stupid 24PF is...I'm glad to have my gut confirmed. Not that big...

SPC: Wondering about H4n on 5D rigs...

I solo most things. But I can cull information from a post that just has "information" in. I thought it sounded great at first, but what if we try to just ask a question in a "normal" thread and...

Looks good. Next purchase should be a circular polarizer :) ...although having just re-read your post I see there's a 4x4 in a matte box.. hm...sorry?

Re: Fall. Shot on the 5D

I hear you; this is such rare footage, that it probably needs to be in there; it's getting an appropriately heavy amount of analysis; frame by frame stuff, with screen grabs coming out; so for what...

Re: Fall. Shot on the 5D

Thanks, Tony. Normally crash/pan zip and zoom stay home. It wasn't intentional; it's just what the camera was doing at that moment, which was relevant to the story. Normally I would edit around all...
