Re: DV Info - Mobile site

Any update on a mobile friendly version of the site, or at least the forums? It's laborious to zoom in and out to read and navigate through many threads in a session even on my fairly large 4.3"...

Re: Will the Audio-Technica AT875 Mic fit in the Ex-1 mic mount?

Philip:

Thanks for the feedback. Do you specifically use it within the built-in mic holder on the top right side of the Ex-1R? Or are you mounting it inside of a shock mount on the top shoe? The...

Will the Audio-Technica AT875 Mic fit in the Ex-1 mic mount?

Anyone else use the Audio-Technica AT875 with the EX-1 or EX-1R? I decided I didn't specifically need a stereo mic on my camera but just a very short mono shotgun to mount on my EX-1 for run & gun...

Re: Separating files shot on one SD Card for two clients?

Thanks, Dave. That was good advice. I am going to start using the Clip Browser for copying and managing all my XDCam EX video files from now on. I backed up the original folders and files as they...

Re: Separating files shot on one SD Card for two clients?

Dave, thanks for the info. I downloaded the 2.6 version of the Clip Browser software from the Sony Pro web site and installed it on my Windows Ultimate 64-bit machine. I browsed to the folder on my...

Separating files shot on one SD Card for two clients?

I started using a Sony EX-1 recently and I really love the video quality compared to my old Sony FX-1 HDV camera. I am still getting accustomed to the workflow however. I shoot to SDHC cards in a...

Re: Possible to output XDCam EX video to tape?

Vincent, I do have a Blu-Ray burner and that is what I usually use to ship raw and/or edited video files to clients. Unfortunately one client does not have nor do they want to get a Blu-Ray drive...

Re: Possible to output XDCam EX video to tape?

Thanks for the answers guys. So it is indeed possible to output to a tape in some kind of format resembling HDV that the editing system can manage to output to a mini-DV or a DVCam tape. But it's...

Possible to output XDCam EX video to tape?

I think I already know the answer to this question. But a friend of mine insists that it is poossible to output edited 1080p30 XDCam EX footage shot with a Sony PMW EX-1 to some kind of tape,...

Re: Correct settings for built in stereo mic- line, mic or 48v?

So with a mono mic and the proper settings on the EX-1 you record that one mono channel of audio simultaneously to both of the audio chanels, to get a pseudo-stereo result? If you make the two levels...

Re: Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

Thanks for clarifying. Since I purchased the camera with the Sony SD Card adapter and a 16Gb card (plus added two more new ones), that's what I will be using. As far as media, 54 minutes is...

Re: Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

I always copy the entire BP4V folder as it is to my hard drive. I intend to start doing it with the Clip Browser from now on. I still have all three SD cards I shot on so far intact so I can copy...

Re: Correct settings for built in stereo mic- line, mic or 48v?

Keith, thanks for confirming that about the EX-1 internal mic. I know the audio with the internal mic will not be as loud or as good, but I was trying to get it as good as possible until I purchase a...

Re: Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

Dave, luckilly I use Premiere Pro 5 when I do my own editing, so I do not have to convert anything, just import the mp4s. The BP4V folder and the extra small reference files in there are nothing but...

Re: Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

Thanks Dave. I'll install Clp Broswer later and start using it. As a new Ex-1 user, everyone's quick answers to my questions have been really helpful.

Re: Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

Bruce, thanks for replying. I probably should just install the XDCam EX Clip Browser on my new pc and try it out. I had thought that it might specifically only work with transferring files off of...

Any reason to use XDCam EX Clip Browser if I shoot on SD cards only?

I recently purchased a used EX-1 from a friend and am using the Sony SDHC card adapter and Class 10 16 Gb SD cards to shoot on exclusively. I did not receive a disk with any software although I did...

Re: Correct settings for built in stereo mic- line, mic or 48v?

Keith, on my EX-1 when I browse to MENU ---> AUDIO ---> AUDIO INPUT I do not see INT MIC LEVEL option. I only see the folllowing:

Trim Ch-1: -41 dBu (grayed out)
Trim Ch-2: -41 dBu (grayed out)...

Re: Correct settings for built in stereo mic- line, mic or 48v?

Dave, thanks. I forgot about the status screen. I set the audio levels on the back of the camera to int + manual and the scroll wheels on the side to 6. I'm intending to get a good on-camera mic for...

Correct settings for built in stereo mic- line, mic or 48v?

Sorry for such a basic question, but I took a couple of test shots using the built in stereo mic with the used EX-1 I just acquired and the audio seems really low so far. I have the switches near...

Re: Small stereo XLR on-camera mic for EX-1?

Dave, I guess I'll probably order a short cable and a longer cable and see which one works better and just return the other one. It's funny, I never had any issues working with consumer/prosumer...

Re: Small stereo XLR on-camera mic for EX-1?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess all these 5 pin to 3 pin XLR cables are essentially the same? The Sennheiser one Dave suggested is 6" and that seems ideal to me (assuming it's not too short to...

Re: Small stereo XLR on-camera mic for EX-1?

Chris, that looks like a nice mic at a reasonable price, and I like the switchable mono/stereo aspect. Nine inches or more in length seems really long though! It will be sticking way out in front of...

Small stereo XLR on-camera mic for EX-1?

I just purchased a Sony Ex-1 and am looking for an audio solution besides the built in mic. I do a lot of run & gun shooting and need a stereo (not just mono) on-camera mic, that has a 3 pin XLR...
