Re: New! Blackmagic 2.5K Raw cinema camera!

Cant remember where I saw the video but it was an interview with Simon Westland of BMD and yes, the camera can be powered by an external battery and get this...the thunderbolt port if you are...

Re: How will Canon's Cinema EOS affect their video camera line?

It's called Neat for video!
Or Magic Bullet DeNoiser for AE
They work incredibly well on the XF footage. :)

Re: Handizoom for DSLR

Certainly not "pretty" but if it works...
Now someone needs to make a sub-$4000 wireless...or heck wired remote follow focus so I can use my mkIII on my crane!!!
I know there's one from JAG35 and...

Re: 5D Mk. III vs Nikon D800 - resolution, ISO, rolling shutter and more

I've used the mkIII on a few gigs now and the sharpening (about 2-2.5%) in FCP, FCPX, and AE works like a champ. I can live with that since I grade most stuff anyway. What's amazing to me is how much...

Re: How will Canon's Cinema EOS affect their video camera line?

Ha! I moved from an hmc150 to the xf300 too!

As far as matching XF with the DSLRs, the XF is much closer to "reality" out of the box. I have tweaked the colors a bit but mostly to allow for better...

Re: How will Canon's Cinema EOS affect their video camera line?

It's still their flagship "video camera" so until they release an XF500 (dreaming!) it will command a premium. Believe me, we all whined like little babies at the initial price which was insane until...

Re: 5d MK lll Overheating?

I'll give the real test here in hell...I mean Phoenix...in a couple of weeks. Going to be outside on the tarmac at an airport for a shoot for several hours. Don't know if it will be the 115 deg test...

Re: Under $5K Camera Suggestions?

Well, if you liked the XA10, move up to the XF100. Heck of a little camera and you'd have money left over for accessories. Or find a used XF300. (not selling mine!) Yes I'm partial to Canon. No they...

Re: 5d mk3-Canon Raw

I've already done several photo shoots and the Photoshop plugin works fine, just a pain cause I use Aperture which doesn't have support yet.
LR4 is on order!

I must say the camera is killer in...

5D mkIII low light test!!

Well since Tony decided to spoil the fun, I decided to take down the link.
But I actually have done some shooting with the mkIII in low light and it's so much better it's ridiculous.
The noise is...

Re: LCD Monitor for 5D?

Please read post #8

And the SmallHD monitors come with a sun hood which makes them very useable outdoors. The EVFs are better outdoors IMHO.

Re: LCD Monitor for 5D?

I have the SmallHD EVF and my buddy has the DP6. Both have peaking and false color, HDMI loop-thrus for your client monitor and are very good for pulling focus. I chose the EVF since I do a lot of...

Re: MagiqCam IIa - FLY THAT CAMERA!

Have the vest and arm which I use with my GC4000hd.
I fly an XF300 and 7D. Rig works great. I'd imagine the sled in this rig would be very nice too! Gonna forward to a friend who is always trying to...

Re: Should I pull the trigger on a C300? Is this the right choice for me?

If that happens, I'll buy your C300! I'll be in the market for one next year!
Go get it, shoot and make money for the next big thing!

Knowing that once you get past the sensor the C300 is very...

Re: Sennheiser Evolution G3 100 Series

Have used the G3 since it came out and still have my G2 in service. Very reliable. A couple of years ago I re-miked with Sanken COS11's and Voice Technologies VT500's. Sound very good now.

Re: Best for Video: 7D or 5d MK2??

Back when I was choosing between the two, the 7D won out due to the hdmi out staying HD during recording and that I do a fair amount of action still work so the high fps in still mode was a...

Re: Anyone getting smooth in car footage?

The best way i have found through a few years of experimenting is hard mounting. this works on cars, motorcycles, aircraft and helis. Look at the rigs Hollywood uses to film in-car scenes. The simple...

Re: Tested a Sachtler FSB 4 with CF sticks.

I'm using the fsb6 with cf75 speedlock legs with my xf300 and it's fantastic. Easily balances with camera, monitor, and wireless audio receivers. Second everything in the write up you did. Great...

Re: New 5d3 - Now what? EVF or LCDVF or Zfinder?

I have the SmallHD DP4 EVF along with the 5D mkIII.

The LCD's seem comparable and are both hi-res enough to pull accurate focus with the loupe.
I have a Z-Finder that I normally use on my 7D...

Re: Soliciting Comments on Startup 5D System

The evf is useable on any camera. I like that it is adjustable position-wise where the straight zfinder limits you to being right behind the camera.

I have a Sachtler Fsb-6 which is fantastic. It...

Re: After much consideration, I finally purchased FCPX

I'm about to dive into FCPX. A bit forced to really.
With Mobile Me going away and a couple of key clients going to FCPX, I decided it was time for a new laptop and I plan to put X on it to see how...
