Re: Pepsi response to Coke Chase

She's a nice gal.

The spot was directed by Peter Atencio who has directed all of "Key & Peele" since the pilot.

Sofia? Nope! They'd have to dub her to hide that accent!

Re: Pepsi response to Coke Chase

To be fair, this was more of a cheeky viral concept than a Superbowl ad, although as I said it nearly turned into the latter as it evolved.

Allan--shooting this on film, had to wrap my head around...

Pepsi response to Coke Chase

Pepsi wanted to poke fun at Coke's Superbowl "Coke Chase" campaign so they ordered this ad. We got the final treatment in exactly a week ago. Short turnaround but it was fun! I shot on the Alexa with...

Re: What cameras did the Sundance entries use?

Laughing at the picture on that page--that's from the set of "Children's Hospital". Guess they couldn't find a still of Lake directing her feature so they figured that one would do.

Re: New Canon C100 film "Bart" Behind the Scenes

Nicely done. I usually can't get through these camera demo short films but I liked that one. Images looked very nice also.

Re: How To? Panning replacing-subject-matter shot?

It's relatively inexpensive these days to be able to do repeatable pan-and-tilt moco shots, as encoded heads have become quite a bit cheaper. Varizoom and Kessler both have models. I owned one some...

Re: Gemini 4:4:4 ARRIRAW Option

John, I think we are in complete agreement.

I really should have knocked on wood regarding not having data issues with the Alexa. I'm sure something will happen someday and actually, I wouldn't...

Re: Gemini 4:4:4 ARRIRAW Option

Hey listen, when the guy that runs the site lays down the law, you just have to go along with it!

I'm not sure those are the most "stretchy" examples of color correction we've done but I'll let...

Re: Gemini 4:4:4 ARRIRAW Option

That sounds about right, John.

Your point about the resources being used elsewhere echoes the one I was making. There are certain battles worth fighting (such as being able to afford Alexa in the...

Re: Gemini 4:4:4 ARRIRAW Option

Hi Dan:

I hadn't hear claims of ARRIRAW achieving higher DR but yes, that would be noteworthy, particularly for low budget shows where there isnt the same likelihood of wielding the size of grip...

Re: Gemini 4:4:4 ARRIRAW Option

I've been shooting a lot of projects with the Alexa in the past year and it is my first camera of choice.

I have ONLY shot to SXS cards. We use ProRes422HQ for most jobs, including my series (Key...

Re: What is Poptent?

Here's the numbers:

Poptent pays $7500 to the producers for a complete buyout, and takes a $40,000 fee.

Don't get me started.

Re: Newbie question comparing zylight is3 and 1x1 light panels

I own an IS3, and I have 1x1's on most shoots in the rental package.

1x1 advantages:
- powerable by 12v source
- thinner, lighter
- spot/flood model offers focusing

IS3 advantages:
- wider...

Re: New French Stabilizer Models (LAigle)

Here's the thing about body-mounted stabilizers. They need to achieve multiple goals simultaneously: lightweight, able to withstand substantial torque, precision tolerances and where applicable,...

Re: New French Stabilizer Models (LAigle)

I last tried one of their rigs about 5 years ago at NAB and was rather impressed with the function of their arms. The "rubber band" concept is somewhat radical, but it delivered a surprisingly linear...

Re: RED's DRAGON SENSOR BREATHING FIRE

The primary way in which RED is driving the industry is in price point and speed of innovation, neither of which is ultimately positive for the market, as it forces profit margins down, devalues all...

Re: Ditching Steadicam Pilot for Glidecam 4000

Jordan:

You indicated that you are looking for "rock-steady shots".

In most cases, this is going to be more achievable with a good vest and arm system like the Pilot than a handheld unit like...

Re: Glidecam Extension And Base Question

In general, you want a stabilizer to be less tall i.e. extended. The idea is to keep the three axes with a similar feel as much as possible. Pan requires the least amount of operator input because...

re: "Hell Baby", comedy/horror feature

Thanks all. I think it has a very good chance for a theatrical release.

We shot with two Alexas, my weapon of choice.

Pleased to announce that a feature I shot this spring is showing at Sundance! It's funny stuff.
