Some people do 3 or 5 frame bracketed exposures so they can create HDR (High Dynamic Range) sequences. Personally, I rarely go longer longer than six seconds of capture (in PAL land 150 frames).

Focal length has nothing to do with the image circle a lens projects, it's just the distance from the centre of the lens lens to the film plane/sensor when the lens is focused at infinity.

Then, open QuickTime and go; file/import/image sequence, then save as a self-contained movie. Then import in to FCP and voila!
