Re: Help!!!

There's a reverse engineering company based in Richmond Hill, I can't remember the company name but they specialize on recovery. They charge a hefty fee but they get the job done, they charge around...

Re: Audio advice for recording a lecture

Joe, since they have 4 mics I assume they have a board/mixer in place, I suggest speaking with the AV guy about getting a feed from the mixer to your camera.

My 2 cents

Re: What to do when Weddings are Scarce?

I really try not get affected when shooting funerals. I don't listen to the speeches and try not to look at the emotions of the greiving family. The only time it really affected me was the time when...

Re: What to do when Weddings are Scarce?

I shoot Birthdays (Filipino 18th to be exact), they are as extravagant as weddings. Basically it is like a wedding shoot without the ceremony. Advertise on the local Filipino community newspaper in...

Re: My life sucks

Nothing worst than what happened to a photographer friend of mine. Someone stole his camera during a wedding shoot. All the photos taken (Bride prep, ceremony, park) gone. It got stolen at the...

Re: How good are present film directors?

Michael Bay from what I read is a dictator on set, does that make him a good director? This is an interesting topic, should we equate box office success in the formula.

I like Clint Eastwood in my...

Great work! Plus you get the chance to work with the world's best wedding photographer (in books that is).

Re: US to Canada with GEAR

My experience is based on Canada to USA with gear. I work for an AV Company, if we have shows in the states. The first question they ask is what are you doing with your gear in the US? The US is...

Re: DSLR vs. Video Camera

I have both of them. I use the DSLR for controlled environments like the Bride Prep, Park, details at reception. I use my Video Camera at the ceremony and reception. I am a single shooter as well, so...

Re: Avengers!

Being a Marvel comics fan in my childhood days, I really enjoyed the movie. The only caveat is I have to watch it on 3D, the non-3D theatres are sold out. I find the 3D Visuals appealing but had the...

Re: Weddings drop off

I see a different trend happening in Toronto. Looks like my summer is lean but Fall is looking good, could be Brides wanting to save money, venues tend to charge less from October to February.

Re: Sweet 16 Videography Job - Recommendations ?

I shoot a lot of 18th Birthdays, I usually shoot the prep and treat it like a wedding. It is less formal to do than weddings and being 16 or 18, they are much more open into ideas. They love the...

Re: Sony VG20 - 1st impressions

Thanks John & Chris. The footage looks lovely btw.

I love my T2i been using it for 4 months now but I don't see it being my main camera. As a solo shooter, it's a pain to rely on it during the...

Re: Sony VG20 - 1st impressions

Thanks for the review. I am planning to sell my HD1000U and grab a VG20 to act as my main cam. I am still keeping my T2i as a 2nd camera.

What's your take on the lens that comes with the VG20? I...

Re: Marriage commissioner refuses to be videotaped

If he does not want to be videotaped, he can conduct the ceremony at the side, he has to compromise somehow. Unless he's in the Most wanted List of the FBI, I don't see any reason why he does not...

Re: How are videographers dealing with copyright restrictions?

I often wondered what the difference is between the Bridal March (Chris Brown song) that went viral vs. Joe Simon's. One got nailed, the other went scott free.

I suggest moving this to the members...

Oscar Winners = Big Bucks?

So you have won best cinematography, does that mean you can double your rate? Same goes with sound editing, etc. I would like to get some inside scoop as they aren't as public as how much Tom Cruise...

Re: Burning soundtrack to CD; can it be done?

You can upload that portion of your video (soundtrack) to you tube and then convert it to an MP3 file via (you tube to MP3, just google it).

Re: 2nd Shooter Contract UK

I don't think you can lock him up exclusively. If you have let's say 30 weddings booked, you can lock him up for those 30 gigs. You can't legally prevent him from shooting with other studios unless...

Re: Best single shooters?

Have to agree with Nigel. However for wedding videographers/photographers it is easy to say I am attending a wedding and it's usually end of story.

I doubt if any of the international...

Re: shooting conference wi. EX1; how to shoot Powerpoint-screen wi. small camera?

Is there a reason why you need to shoot the PPT on screen? I believe there's a software that captures PPT presentation and tags slide changes for easier synching during post.

Re: Can't really get a Job.. Help me out?

Try sending your resume to a head hunter, they would "edit" your resume as they deem fit. I would also join linkedin to get your name out there and connect with peers.

"We asked that you provide a courtesy vendor meal for the videographer/photographer (s)."

Never had any push back from the client about it.

Re: Kodak files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Can't remember the guy's name, he was quite famous in the early 90s but what he taught back then was so true. Any business should be able to sense a business paradigm shift, those who are not able to...
