Re: Leave the aisle free?
What*I've done in the past, is let the photographer get her/his wide shot at the beginning of the ceremony and then when she/he tells me that they have their shot I will move my tripod to the middle...

Re: incamera stabilisation
If you all are interested in 42.5 focal length, you should check out the voigtlander. I have it and it's my favorite lens for the gh4.

Re: incamera stabilisation
I have a Ronin and I agree it gets some great tracking shots, but it's not the right tool for every job. The IBIS would be beneficial on a monopod. While the monopod keeps it relatively still, the...

Re: incamera stabilisation
It is interesting. I also use GH4s now. I will wait and see as well.
Really, I'm hoping the GH5 will have IBIS. It will be great for use with manual lenses.

Re: Steadicam use at weddings
I use the DJI Ronin at weddings. It has been fantastic! It is heavy, but I'm not holding it constantly through the entire day. The longest I use it continuously is during the first dance. The...

Re: Credits anyone?
It takes less than 5 minutes to copy and paste the names at the beginning. I think it adds to the aesthetic of a short form.

I like adding them to the beginning of a video. Like the beginning of The Barn at Flanagan Farm // Maine Wedding // Katie and Sazi on Vimeo.

Re: Drones
I bought a drone at the end of last year so I'm in the process of learning how to use one, but I don't have any intention of using it during a ceremony. I don't want to distract the guest with a...

Re: Sony a7s for weddings
If the below article is correct then Canon may not support Magic Lantern for much longer. Another reason to look elsewhere?
Canon blocking Magic Lantern on latest 5D Mark III bodies - EOSHD...

Re: Photo + Video - One Man
I think this a huge generalization. Obviously there are teams of 2 or more that don't work well together, but there are also well organized teams of multiple people who really do add extra coverage,...

Re: 1st dances
That's what I do. I tell the photographer that I'm going to spin around the couple one time at the beginning of the dance, so she/he knows that I'll be in their way for just a moment. I've never...

Re: Please review my first wedding film!
HI Mitch,
I agree that this is a really great first wedding. A couple thoughts:
The color balance doesn't match between shots. It's close, but the outdoor stuff is definitely more blue than...

Re: Any one only offering highlights?
Zing!
Roger, I was responding to your assertion that the short form guys have this notion that friends wouldn't want to watch a documentary film. I'm agreeing by adding that it also comes from...

Re: Any one only offering highlights?
I think that perception comes from personal experience/preference as swell. For me, I would be bored sitting through a friend's wedding documentary. If they had a short form video then I would be...

Re: Any one only offering highlights?
I don't think every "creative wedding film maker" is staging every shot. You can make a compelling short form video without staging moments. I know some do, but's it is not mandatory to create a...

Re: Anyone doing a "no disks" delivery yet?
I currently supply 3 DVD or Blu-ray, but I think looking at what other people give in our area I'm behind in giving out USBs as well. Still researching how many and of what.

Re: Editing my first wedding
FCP X has great tools to transcode to proxies and makes it easy to revert back to the original footage. It will save you time to utilize those for the next wedding. You can also start editing while...
