You get what you pay for, but that said I still find the lilliput a great value. I need it mostly for framing where I can't easily use the lcd finder.
This is more or less a disposable item, it has...

Jonathan, It did recover all the mov files. I tried two other programs but they didn't see anything on the card, the Photorescue processed for 20 minutes or so and recovered all of them. It did...

nightmare scenario, all files gone - recovered!

The short story - shot 16 gigs of b roll, reviewed the first few and the last in the camera, saw all the clips - all was fine.
Put the card in a reader, saw 16 or so gigs of data, set and started...

you can focus while viewing 16x9 or 4x3, the picture is usually good enough for that. I think all these monitors perform roughly the same - most on the market are 800x400 screens and the camera...

found an inexpensive monitor......finally

Somewhere in my search I came across the JAG35 monitor, a 7 inch hdmi input lcd for $249.00. I like it just fine so far.
It would be nice to have a waveform/vectorscope/color peaking/automatic...

I'm with you on the trial and error Paul, just saying that at 80% unusable I'm shelving the product, sending it back or reevaluating how I'm using it.

As mentioned in many of the posts above there is room for both cameras in any serious practitioners kit, but I think Paul's assessment above is harsh. If I had a day where 80% of my work was rubbish...

Any "video village" ideas?

I need to shoot on the 5d II and set up a monitor remotely for the producer. So far my best idea is to use an HDMI distribution amp, one for a camera monitor the other to the remote.
Since the...

yeah, it is a moot point, and started as desperate wishful thinking for an easy solution with what I already have around. I need a mashup of the 5d and the ex 3 ( a DEX 8 maybe?)

Even a halfway solution will be better than nothing. I know I'll lose the 1080 image while rolling, but having the ability to frame without craning my neck into compound angles will be great.

I'm trying to avoid having to change lenses since it also often means changing monopod/tripod, matte box, filters, etc. I do love those primes but they'll kill a budget pretty quickly.

Switching to Canon lenses

I'm happy with my 5DmkII and have been using it with my old nikkors. Recently I got a 70-200 Canon - like it a lot - and I'm ready to switch my glass and use all the Canon features.
So I'm looking...
