Re: Wedding Trailers

For me, the "trailer" or preview comes first (online), and then that is also including along with the Highlights/Running footage on the final discs.

The trailer serves a larger purpose than just...

Re: Most recent wedding

Nice work!
and yes, Adrian, great venue.

In terms of the camera movement, I thought it worked (especially for this wedding's feel).

Were the non-slider shots monopod, rig, or purely handheld? ...

Re: Do you use a monopod?

99% of my wedding is filmed with a monopod.
Anything you see on my samples or website that is NOT a timelapse or slider shot, is done with a monopod. (Manfrotto -- the one with 3 little legs,...

Re: Spelling mistakes on the dvd

That's a great call. Same here. I've really simplified any text I put on anything (within film or on covers) and make sure to use the first names as they have on their contract and/or program.

Re: C100 on the way! PLEASE help me compile a kit...

The 24-105 is super for a great share of event/wedding needs.
That, and a 30/35mm prime for lowlight when needed (I have the Zeiss 35 Distagon and love it!)

All that said, the new 24-70L II is a...

Re: Problem: Buzzing from the PA System

I agree with Paul in that I would level out your music changes more (even if it means less volume overall with the music). The images are gorgeous and I don't think the buzz is as bad as you might...

Re: Dance Recital - Mixing Live sound with Mixing Board sound

When I've done shows that involved sound from a mixing board (like dance), I try to record a continuous WAV file from the mixing board MAIN OUT.

In post, I use about 2/3rds board sound to 1/3rd...

Re: The Quickdraw Lens Belt - Opinions?

Odd. I went to their website and they are only taking backorders with scheduled batches (which made sense to me). But then when I went through the order process, it said "out of stock" (not taking...

Re: How many weddings do you do a year?

25 last year. Raised prices so as to make 20 go as far this year.

But I have a full-time teaching job, too, so this isn't my only gig!

Re: Worst mistake you made while shooting?

Back in the days of miniDV tapes, I took one out of my Canon XL2 too aggressively and ripped the tape in half.... (Yes, this was the main-cam tape and only copy of prep/ceremony).

Anyone else...

Re: Worst mistake you made while shooting?

Jeff - I literally have nightmares about that scenario.
(Reoccurring stress dream: driving endlessly while being endlessly lost while knowing I'm already missing the wedding I'm supposed to be...

Re: Time to upgrade or wait?

The XF100 is great for certain things (balcony camera at weddings, a camera on the conductor in a classical concert), basically a third camera (maybe a 2B or 3A). But I can't picture it as a #1 for...

Re: Changing what we offer - wedding Packages

+1.

My pricing is extremely simple. 1 price. (which I post.) Simple as that. I don't monkey around with ceremony-only or anything like that. When I devote a day to a wedding (and the editing...

Re: 'Video Guy' Hard at Work

Chris -
The trick for DVD covers is to ask the bride. When *she* asks the photog for a few hi-res originals to be emailed to me for the covers, it always happens.

I can't remember the last time...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! What lens or lenses for wedding videos???

You will NOT regret the 24-105 as a go-to lens.
Even at F4, given this camera's low light/ISO amazingness.

For my weddings, the 24-105 is the default ceremony lens and then for really lowlight...

FCP 7 with new Mac Pro

I looked around but didn't see a thread devoted to just this.

Now that there must be new owners of the new R2D2 Mac Pro, could anyone chime in on how the FCP 7 migration is going? Or are FCP 7's...
