Re: My First Wedding shoot

You have a frame rate issue or something in your clip here. It's stuttering like you have a 30p clip in a 24p timeline or vice versa. Otherwise my 2 other comments are the cuts are entirely too fast...

Re: First Wedding Video! **need critique!!**

Ultimately Bethany,
You have 2 people you have to please in this equation. You have your current bride and your future bride. Your current bride is going to love it because she's in it, and all her...

Re: First Wedding Video! **need critique!!**

Bethany,
For people to properly get a story, they can't be distracted by all of the technical issues. I would suggest that there is a minimum level of equipment to buy before you get started and...

Re: First Wedding Video! **need critique!!**

Bethany.
First of all welcome. And, understand that this is the hardest part. For you to have the courage to post publicly is huge and I commend you for that. You will look back at this one day and...

Re: 5d3 cf or sd card ?

I use both on a regular basis. I generally go into a long day with both slots loaded, and don't really think twice about which I'm using.

Re: Shooting a wedding with a Blackmagic

So, why use the bmcc? I didn't see anything in that bunch that couldn't have been shot with a mkIII with a lot less kit. I hear everyone talk about potential with this cam but I'm just not seeing...

Canon 6D for sale. one month old

Hey all.
I've made the decision to go ahead and sell my awesome 6D to get another 5DmkIII. I purchased this one the first week of March from a local Best Buy. It has 2 weddings and a corporate shoot...

Don,
It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. Don't let shallow DOF make you upset. :)

Re: Time Shifting

Brian,
The way I put this with my editors is that it's ok to do anything at all as long as it works. Don't feel obligated to the chronology or shifting the chronology. Find the opportunity to tell...

Re: crap venue lighting

Robert,
Not to make light of your crass generalization, but I had this problem many times on "proper" video cameras. I would rather put up with strobing occasionally than have to deal with the image...

Re: crap venue lighting

Paul,
you've got it right about shutter speed. I find that 1/40 or 1/60 of a second helps here. It might be worth a trip over with the technical person to test the settings on the lights and see if...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Gabe,
I think that's a great point. We need to be on the mind of the wedding planners and the brides. We need to make sure the planners can use our video to sell themselves to future clients and...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Agreed Chris. IQ is irrelevant to brides. I did, however see a great presentation by Michael Wong at Infocus in 2012 about removing distractions from your edit. I think we can engage our audience...

Re: Are we becoming obsessed with quality?

Noa ,
What's pointless is that no one can tell you that you're wrong because you're the only Belgian. So, it's pointless to tell you that you can have brides that pay more and appreciate video as...

6D and mkIII colors different

so, I'm shooting with the 6D and MkIII side by side on the same subject with the same settings. 4000ISO 2600k White balance f/2.8 1/50 of a second. the 6D skews a bit yellow and the mkIII skews a bit...

Roger,
I realized with all of the silly talk about markets, I never answered your original question. Here's my experience. When I started to focus on quality, not image quality necessarily, but...
