Nope. The size of the sensor doesn't affect sensitivity. ISO 100 is ISO 100 in FF, APS-C, medium format or anything else. Indeed, the smaller sensor will get you deeper DOF for the same FOV/aperture.

I shoot run and gun in manual everything mode all the time and like Doug I've done that with a range of cameras for years. Sure, there are times when auto something is handy but it's not so difficult.

What's confusing here is 1440x1080 is a 4:3 Aspect ratio, although in this case it is 4:3 Anamorphic because you are using non-square pixels.

FCP knows this too and automatically plays back in...

Neil, you shouldn't have to change video codec on "Send to FCP" since you are already matching codecs. I'm guessing something has gone awry between those codec settings.
