Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

Dave, for the seventeenth time, I agree with you that 4K is an interesting tool that may be of use, depending on your workflow, style, gear, etc. And I also understand the benefits of shooting at a...

Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

Well said. I agree completely. But I do disagree with this idea that you need to switch to 4K if you don't want to be left behind.

I don't think it is fair to take the switch from 1080p (or 2K)...

Re: C100 very noisy

I remember the thread, Nigel. Can you suggest some picture profile settings that you now use in low light? There seems to be blue chroma noise all over the place on the Wide DR-based profiles at...

Re: 70-200mm 2.8L IS + C100???

Is this the original or the "II" version of the 70-200?

I use the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens all the time on my C100s, and I've never had any problems.

Either ways, something is...

Re: Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART Auto Focus on C100? How does it work?

For the third party glass I've tested, you need to have the lens wide open for the continuous auto focus to work. This is true for me on the Tokina 11-16 II, the sigma 24-70, and the sigma 18-35...

Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

Again, I ask the question no one will answer: If 2K is fine for Avengers 2, when will anyone reading this actually need 4K?

Fun? Yes, maybe. But anyone who thinks they NEED it is suffering from...

Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

I know the most recent series of Red Dwarf shot on RED, but I assumed that was an anomaly. If you haven't seen the making-of feature on the DVD yet, I highly recommend it. The super high-end...

Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

I think more Hollywood productions use the 2K Arri Alexa than a 4K+ camera.

I agree. As I said, I understand there are benefits for shooting at a higher resolution than you deliver. I shoot...

Re: Will 4K cameras be practical for weddings?

Sorry to derail this thread.

I asked this question before. If the Lord of the Rings trilogy exists as a 2K master, as do many modern Hollywood blockbusters, why would any bride anywhere ever...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! What lens or lenses for wedding videos???

Excellent summary, Ben. But to be totally pedantic, I'd like to clarify that it is perfectly possible to make 24p DVDs and Blurays from 24p footage. At this point, the choice of frame rate should...

Re: Im about to make the jump....HELP!

Great article, Danny. Can you share your settings for matching C100's to a 6D?

Re: GH4 Wedding Video

The Lord of the Rings trilogy exists as a 2K master. The DCP of Ender's Game was 2048x880. Why exactly does a bride need 4K? For her 55" TV??

That being said, I am an avid devotee of shooting...

Re: Hot swapping lenses?

When the c300 was first released there was talk of blowing fuses by hot-swapping lenses. This required a factory repair. I don't know if it's been fixed or not, but I wouldn't risk it.

Re: c100 users enlighten me from the 60d

I believe you're making my point for me, Matt. As I said, yes, the C100 is "better" than a DSLR, as it should be at 10x the cost. Is the picture alone worth the 10x more cost? No. All things...

Re: c100 users enlighten me from the 60d

As I believe Edgar's comparison illustrates, the C100 has better video quality than the crop-sensor Canon DSLRs. But as the cost is roughly 10 times more than the DSLRs, shouldn't the question be:...

Re: 5d3 slow motion - 720 upscaled to 1080 or 1080 downscaled to 720?

My own workflow: Since almost everything I produce is intended for web viewing, I edit on a 720p timeline. In Premiere Pro, I simply drop all the footage (both 720p and 1080p) onto the 720p...

Re: Canon 6D vs Canon 5DmkII

I just did a wedding the other day, using a 6D for the first time. I really liked it, and I didn't miss anything from the 5D3. I think the aliasing and moire thing is a bit overblown. Low light was...

Re: C100 LCD screen green tinge?

Yes, I've learned the hard way: never try to set the color temperature by eye when using the built-in LCD on the C100. It's a bit of a learning curve after being so used to Canon DSLR's which seem...

C100 + Nanoflash?

I know there's been a lot of talk of the C300 and nanoflash, but I'm very interested in pairing the upcoming C100 with a nanoflash.

According to someone at the recent Canon event in Hollywood,...

Re: Hot pixel repair question

I have the same thing on my T2i. It doesn't show up until the camera has warmed up a little. It seems to be appearing sooner and sooner when I shoot though. I haven't looked into repairs yet.

I...
