Re: Have we taken Wedding Fims a step too far?
My guys and I talk about this all the time.
When we started, we each had 1 camera and 1 tripod. So, on the wedding day, there would be 3 of us each with our camera and tripod. Then we added 2...

Re: Amazon Drive with unlimited space?
A friend of mine backed up pretty much all of his stuff to Amazon. If I recall, his upload took about a month of continuous uploading!
On Charter internet we get 5 Mbps upload speeds.

Re: Noob Ax100 questions
You may want to check your local Best Buy. I typically never buy from a box store like that, but they do have open box items, and as I noted somewhere else on here, I picked up an open box CX900...

Picked up a Sony CX900 for weddings and events.
I've had my eye on this one for a while but was having a hard time paying the $1,300 for a new one.
So a buddy of mine was able to get an open box one in Nashville at Best Buy for like $760 in...

Re: Timelapse of audience arriving at an event.
I haven't done a lot of timelapses, but I know the ones I have done, 5 seconds between shots is a lot of time, and depending on how long it takes to fil up the place, it may go by way to fast.
But...

Re: My USB packaging.
This year, I decided to try the Asukabook DVD presentation books (they also make USB, but I'm still doing DVD delivery).
They're a little pricey at about $70/each for the book, but I think this...

Re: Free Recital DVD's for Dance Teachers/Staff
I always give 5-10 complete copies free.
But - for me, I cram everything onto 1 disc that sometimes maxes out at 2 hours long. I use Kunaki to do all my duplication, so for 10 extra discs, it's a...

Re: 6 cameras for a wedding?! Ideas?
The last one I did was in Texas alone.
Attached is how I set up all the unmanned cameras.
I had a D750 with 70-200 on a monopod and was roaming.
This was a at mega church and a wedding...

Nikon 1 series for wedding work
I've posted elsewhere that I use my Nikon 1 V1 with 6.7-13mm lens for processional safety shots. It works great.
This past weekend, we had a situation where that camera ended up being the rear...

Re: 6 cameras for a wedding?! Ideas?
I routinely use 5-8 cameras for wedding ceremonies as a solo shooter. I place the unmanned cameras out of the way on stage, hidden behind things, clamped to things etc.
At the once this past...

Re: My latest try! lol
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Noa, yeah it was shot for 16:9. I always forget that I'm going to add the bars in post for the highlight reels and such. So it wasn't perfect.
Yes solo shoot....

Re: Are people still using Encore?
I'm doing more and more photography as well, so having photoshop and lightroom is a huge benefit to me.
The $50/mo I pay is worth it for me.
Another thing I love is having access to Adobe...

Re: Are people still using Encore?
That's an interesting issue. Not sure why you'd have to install a Roxio thing for Adobe to work...
I have Encore 6 on my desktop and Encore 5 on my laptop.
If you're doing any kind of regular...

Re: Cheap wireless audio & lav mic?
I got this Audio Technica wired mic with like a 20' cable for about $40 from B&H a couple years ago. Excellent mic (for the $40) and no interference worries!
I use it for promos and such where...

Went Crazy and got a GH4
Last Friday I went to the Unclaimed Baggage Center and they had 2 GH4s on the shelf.
They were having a camera sale for 30% off, so it ended up costing me $830 for a GH4 with the 14-140mm lens...

Re: Pricing advice - Dance Recital
Another thing I'm curious about is the effect of phones and tablets. At the first one I shot a couple weeks ago "tons" of parents holding up their phones and iPads taking video of the performances.

Re: Pricing advice - Dance Recital
I have debated this in my head every year.
This year I'm doing 4 recitals for 4 different studios and have priced each one (entire show) at $30.00.
Logistically, it's easier for me because...

12x worked for me. Lol
The 24x clear image zoom is also pretty nice. We use that in the a7s to get extra range out of the 24-70.

Re: 360vr for weddings
Yeah man I dunno.
My second shooter went out and spent $2500 on a rig and system. We shot a wedding with it last year at the beach... eh... it was ok and neat for about 1 minute or 2.
The...

Hey thanks. I was on a monopod for the whole day, except for a few glidecam shots.
My technique isn't the best on a monopod. I've started trying to use a small manfrotto tripod during most of the...
