Re: Quite a nice C300 endorsement
I'm not sure what the rules are here in terms of linking to other forums, suffice to say if you google "c300 Afganistan" you will see some gorgeous shots from this camera... It's early days yet

Mr Bloom has given this gentleman his 15 minutes of fame... he's been appraised in all parts of the cyber world.
Oleg the image quality in this clip is neither here nor there - Philip shot it...

Hilarious! He's certainly a hard man to please.
No doubt Alister is right on all counts, but they're nothing that stop people from shooting wonderful footage on the XFs: none of them are show...

Re: meeting Canon Engineers
Allan hold that thought, I just confirmed finance for mine a few minutes ago - nothing in this list (which I contributed to) or anything announced at NAB perturbs me. I've only shot with the C300...

Re: New Canon 4K camera announcements
I have a C300 on pre-order. I was waiting to hear this announcement before committing. So far it hasn't dissuaded me.
The C300 offers a beautiful 1080 image for content I can deliver to clients...

Yes, and the ability to move a deeper magnification region around using the job wheel, as one can with DSLRS.

Re: meeting Canon Engineers
Thanks Jim.
These seem to be doable firmware fixes that many have requested (no doubt you already have these noted):
1 Waveform viewable in EVF (not just LCD)
2 Separate assignable wheels...

Re: 5d MK lll Overheating?
I haven't heard of (or experienced) any problem with the 5D3 overheating. That said, it was never an issue with my 5D2 either, even on long shoots. AFAIK the overheating issue was limited to...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
The 5DII and Gh2 actually complement each other rather well - they have such different strengths.
For low light jobs or when you want a pretty full frame look, you'll find yourself using the 5DII...

Re: Portraits: Use GH2 or purchase 5Dmkii ?
Don has already answered this, but just to reiterate, these cameras are in different leagues for still performance (of course, video is another story, where as we all know the Gh2 punches well above...

Re: So, is the 5D3 soft?
Hi Andy,
I enjoy the that blog, but I wouldn't get too caught up by the author's comments on the 5DIII. His focus has historically been on resolving power. Fair enough, but at the same time I...

Re: Soliciting Comments on Startup 5D System
The 24-105 is a great all round lens for the 5DIII due to its useful focal range and image stabilisation (which is extremely useful with a monopod or hand-held). Personally I prefer it to the 24-70...

Just to reiterate Andy, the very video you point to keeps this theme going among 5DIII owners. Quoting from the description:

Re: So, is the 5D3 soft?
Not wanting to flog a dead horse here, but (despite all the insightful responses above ), I note Philip Bloom has found that if you set the 5DIII to zero sharpening it does appear uber soft, but it...

Re: Canon 5D Mk III is shipping in UK (pictures)
You may want to test the codecs in your editing system Tariq.
Final Cut Pro 7 struggled with the All-I when I tired it. Switched to FCPX and it's a breeze to edit ALL-I with - you shouldn't...

Yep... and I wasn't trying to suggest the graded images look any better necessarily - it was just an attempt to test how sharpening (using a few different tools) affects the image.
What I'm...

So, is the 5D3 soft?
http://vimeo.com/39053031
I've been a little spoilt in terms of capturing image detail as the owner of an XF300 and Gh2, which in fairness both resolve appreciably more detail than the 5D3 (and...
