VAF is necessary, in both raw and h264 IF you don't want aliasing and moire in tight repeating patterns.
Not needed if you shoot crop mode all the time.
Don't think that raw removes aliasing...

Using the current nightly builds, starting at feb 27-28 and Mar, there are no more problems using HDMI monitoring and playback.
Just note.
Connect and power on the hdmi first before cam.
