24P to 30P

To anyone,

I was wondering what quality hit or issues I might encounter if I shoot 24P then later on render at 30p from the timeline? I am asking this as I might have mixed 24p and 30p shots.

transcoding to mpeg2 or avi from camera

I want to know if the hf-10/11/100 has an option to download the avchd files to the PC with the camera acting as a transcoder/converter from avchd to an mpeg2 or avi/DV on the fly. I know the avchd...

thanks for your impressions on the z7u

This is very good news. I have a vx-2000 myself and I want to have the same low light capabilities but in HDV. I was thinking of the A1 too, but decided to wait longer. The z7u is for sure the...

a laser distance measuring device

How about a laser measuring device. I am not sure of the name or what's it's called. But I have seen them on tv. You point it at a wall and it gives a reading of the distance in digital. I think real...

BD and DVD

Sorry about that Chris. I was speaking matter of factly. The tone is normal, not excited, not angry or offended, nor combative. Too bad people can't hear me with typed words :-)

In any case, I...

Well, these are just the official posturings of what everybody else knew way back. These pronouncements, however, help fuel the migration faster and help institutionalize the BD standard. I hope that...

Low light capabilities

I agree with William. Due to the smaller photosites, even if the sensor is 1/3", the light sensitivity is lowered by a lot. I don't have the hd-1000u, but I do have the hc3, the precursor model to...

Yes, it would work. I have been using my Dell 1505 notebook with 160gb 5400 rpm for 1.5 years now for editing and capturing. I use Ulead v10 for capturing. In editing, using Vegas 7, I didn't notice...

It's too early.

1- The infrastructure isn't there.

From the standpoint...
