Thanks for your reply. It seems to me that you have a battery on the rear as a counterweight and also the sprung pole at the front supports the the front weight and is like a kind of dampener.

Do Image Stabilization lenses make a difference?

I have found that the image stabilizer caused the image to judder when panning or tilting the camera. so I always turn it off, when shooting video.
