Re: Sony FDR-AX100
Thanks Jan for sharing the link. Looks like Rolling shutter is bad only in 4K mode. I guess it's not scanning the chip fast enough. In 1080P mode it looks great just like any new camcorder released....

Re: Sony FDR-AX100
Ok im scratching my head here at the last few pages in this thread. We're talking about a 4K consumer camcorder at $2,000. It has a 1" sensor and a 10x zoom. Yes 2.8-4 isnt optimal but what other...

Re: Sony FDR-AX100
I doubt Panasonic will be the only 4K DSLR under $2k this year. Sony will cover all the bases as it looks like they're doing. I want a 4K VG-Series camcorder.

Re: Sony FDR-AX100
Glen, the mid-range consumer camera I was talking about was Canon's line. The only update to the line is 60P and other sharing storing features. I remember the days when Canon released their 1/3 2MP...

Re: Sony FDR-AX100
From what I understand the FDR-AX100 is the Flagship Consumer camcorder then the CX900 follows. We'll have to wait and see come NAB in this area. I'm shocked not a peep from Canon except their...

You maybe correct Ozzy. Makes you wonder if we'd see a PXW-Z100. A pro version of this cam. I'm waiting on the VG40 4K version :D

CES 2014: Sony FDR-AX100 Consumer Cam $2,000
I had a feeling Sony would release a lower end 4K consumer cam. Didn't expect this one.
1" CMOS sensor and XAVC-S only upto 4K 30P.
12X zoom lens
Built in ND-filters
720p/120fps
$2,000 and...

Re: Panasonic 4K S35 Varicam: More info
I'm interested to see what they do with the AF100 line now that we know what this Varicam is capable of. Hope the AF100 gets new life at NAB 2014... To answer your question...4K is here. I wonder how...

Re: New! Sony FDR-AX1 4K Handycam!
I knew it wouldn't be a 1/2 or 2/3 or 1" sensor but didn't expect a single 1/2.3 sensor. I was wrong thinking 3 chip and 1/3" sensor cause of the 20x zoom.

Re: New Sony PXW-Z100 4k
I agree with that! Sony just released the PMW300 which will have a FW update to do XAVC for HFR. Any 4K XDCAM model will cost more then that one if using the same size chips. Keeping it at 1/3" will...

Re: New Sony PXW-Z100 4k
Alister mentioned a while back on this forum he was under NDA. I bet this is why. He's used the XDCam version of the 4K cam. Maybe that's the upper model that many mentioned. 1 in the...

Re: Sony 4K Handicam pic leaked
The reason I believe it's 1/3" chips is the 20X zoom and also the sensor is EXMOR R. EXMOR R is a back illuminated sensor which till now have been for smaller sensors then 1/3" which pack a lot of...

Re: Sony 4K Handicam pic leaked
Well it's Exmor R sensor so it's back Illuminated which will help greatly with lowlight with that many pixels packed in. I think it's 1/3" chips with the 20X G lens and Exmor R sensors. Diffraction...
