re: Canon announces XC10 and new codec XF-AVC

Reliability, compatibility & familiarity. On many productions (and in rental houses) price often comes secondary to factors such as these (provided the Image quality is there).

For people wanting...

Re: Canon announces C300 Mark II, XC10 and new codec XF-AVC

C300mkII actually looks a lot better than I had expected. I think they've certainly done enough to prevent a tidal wave of C300 owners switching over to the Sony FS7.

The XC10 has me on the fence...

Re: Easy camera for wildlife documentary

If a decent zoom is a must, any of the upper-end consumer camcorders will do the trick quality wise (AX100 sure looks nice, though) and your challenge will be more about educating them to use a...

Re: Windows re-assinging Drive letters

Also I'll add that I just tried to re-assign the drive letters on my laptop and the same thing happens.

The original drive is exFAT, I've tried formatting the new blank drive to both exFAT and...

Windows re-assinging Drive letters

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with some of my external USB drives in Windows 7. I've been working on a project on a 3TB external HDD (WD MyBook) and needed to hand the work in progress off to a...

Re: Opening project with dynamic linking in newer version

I'm actually having kind of the opposite problem at the moment. I've got CC and CS6 installed and working on the same machines.

Unfortunately, much of my work still has to be done in CS6 to keep...

Re: Which cam for less than 5000 bucks

I've never used an URSA but I did price up a package recently. Once I added a battery solution and enough media for a full day of shooting, it worked out close to $10,000.

Re: Which cam for less than 5000 bucks

$2000 for lenses is actually not a lot if you plan to cover the the same focal length range as your XH-A1 or an XF200.

$2000 gets you a nice pair of zoom lenses (eg Canon 70-200 f/2.8 & 24-70...

Re: Still Photographer Seeking Advice

There's better camera out there now, but as a result the price of the FS700 has come down (especially used) which makes it a good deal right now.

As always though, something else is always just...

Re: Consumer APS-C cams

Thanks Simon, I'll add it to the list.

At this stage I'm leaning towards the a5100 because I just found out it has a flash (I'd previously assumed it didn't based off the NEX-5/N/R. Just trying...

Re: Stabilised video problem

I've never heard of anything like this before... my only guess that Youtube's own stabilisation has taken over and done it's own thing - though for this to happen there would need to be something...

Re: Shooting from a small plane -first time

I'm the editor on a project that had a 2-camera light plane flight - DSLR out one side and FS700 on the other. I threw out everything except the FS700 100fps footage.

The problem is that, even...

Re: Consumer APS-C cams

Thanks Peter, that is definitely one of the ones I'm considering.

Do you have any experience with it or have you heard any reports about overheating with it?

Consumer APS-C cams

I'm going on holidays soon and my better half has tasked me with picking up a new family/compact camera. I thought it would make sense to get a Sony mirrorless camera which can also be put to work as...

Re: Decided to Sell My EA50

I think the FS700 is a great choice right now. I just bought one and have loved it so far (upgrading from Canon 5DmkIII's). I use Canon lenses on it with a Metabones adapter and it's no different...

Re: EF-S lens question

Well, you don't need to make the comparison, you just need to understand what each focal length will look like on your camera.

I doubt many DP's who've been shooting S35 for decades stop on set...

Re: Which do yuu prefer: 1080/30P or 720/60P

So does any Sony or Panasonic camera released in the past three years.

Too little too late from Canon, for me.

Re: Which do yuu prefer: 1080/30P or 720/60P

Putting aside the artistic/theoretic merits of 24p vs 25/30p vs 50/60p, these days I can't stand the look of the 50p/60p video form the Canon DSLR's. It just seems so soft and the aliasing is quite...

Re: Should I buy an FS700 right now?

I totally agree with everything Mike said - usually I like to buy my primary work cameras new so I've got warranty & peace of mind, but the FS700's are going for crazy low prices right now, and I...

Re: Should I buy an FS700 right now?

If you're worried about quirkiness or minor quibbles with the FS7, then why not rent one for a day and try it out for yourself? Every new camera has quirks and sometimes it's a case of the user...

Re: Should I buy an FS700 right now?

I just happily purchased a used FS700 after the FS7 came out and everyone started upgrading (it's currently en route to me so I haven't put it through its paces yet). I think the only thing that...

FS700 Cinegamma vs FS100 CinemaTone

Hi All,

I just pulled the trigger on a used FS700, and I'm considering adding a FS100 alongside it too, seeing as the used prices have plummeted so far.

One thing I'm wondering though, is how...
