Re: Cloud backup for Video?

Since it is you background - I wonder if I could pick your brain.

WHen it comes to a RAID1 setup, or simply sync backup software... does it delete in the backup what you delete in the primary...

Re: Cloud backup for Video?

Hi Danny,

I will look into the NAS option. My office is in an outbuilding. Knowing I could have it stored in the house over a network would be more secure!

Cloud backup for Video?

Does anyone do it? Obviously physical drive backups are no use in cases of burglary or fire, but are the file sizes for video not too big?

My weddings are about 80-100GB. Surely uploading these...

Non Essential But Helpful Purchases

It's sometimes all too easy to make purchases that have an obvious affect on your shooting and footage quality, but sometimes it's harder to part with money on things that will improve your own...

Re: Outsourcing Edits

For me, I'd be looking someone to edit my speeches, first dance, and vows, and maybe to top and tail all my clips - that would be handy!

But yea, heres the think - multicam edits are basically...

E-Mount equivalent to 24-70 2.8?

My trusty Tamron 24-70 2.8 has packed it in. So rather than just buying another I thought I'd try to see if I could manage without the need for an adaptor.

Main criteria is image stabilisation,...

Re: Asked to film for another company

Very late to this discussion, but in a very simple way I'm just going to say hourly rates are neither here nor there.

If you stand a chance of being paid higher for those specific hours by...

Outsourcing Edits

Has anyone used third parties to get edits done? Any recommendations?

My first full time year here and I've given myself a horrendous amount of work to do!

I don't like not having the creative...

Re: SD card Problem - missing file - Help?

Tried 7/8 recovery softwares. Most couldn't see it. One did but couldn't play it. Then finally one was able to recover it for me. Recovermyfiles.Com. very original. Not the best looking GUI or...

Re: ND Fader limitations.

Peter - it's like you are reading my mind!

In my last post I was about to mention my Tamron 24-70 but in the end didn't.

My Tamron 24-70 is beginning to have problems. Its broken but still...

Re: ND Fader limitations.

I just can't fathom spending £300 on an ND fader when it's locked to a certain thread size. Selling them on can't be as easy as selling on a lens.

It's a weird time us Sony A7s users are in.

ND Fader limitations.

Sometimes I wonder 'Does everyone else work like I do?'. And I'm just going to ask.
ND faders to keep focus somewhat shallow? Is this what you all do?

The reason I ask is that on super sunny...

Re: A Wedding, A Missing Purse, and the DVDs To Provide the Solution?

Interesting. The person named was in fact one of your clients? Do you give out three copies like he found? Was he able to describe what the wedding films looked like?

I'm terrible in these...

Re: Fasten Your Seatbelts...

For me there are three things I get out of the work I do. And they are very different.

1) Paid. and its way better pay than the job I had before. So yea, that's nice. But this rather basic...

Sony a6000 Firmware Update 2.00 XAVC Sample

It had been raining all day. The B&G came to me at 9.30pm saying the rain had stopped!

My A7S was already balanced on the gimbal for dancing and time was limited. So I grabbed my B-cam.
I...

Re: Kids eh!

For me, it goes further than hampering your video. It actually has a negative impact on their actual real life ceremony.

I hate the idea that anyone us stuck or locked in to a time line. Why is...

Re: Asking more from the couple - Cinematic shots

Great comments guys.

Of course I must stress, this isn't a delivered wedding video. It's not what I'm giving the B&G. It took me maybe a half hour to 45 minutes to put together.

I sent the link...

Re: So fed up with DVD

SOunds like a good method Taky especially since you have a separate machine for it. Do you somehow batch those renders, rather than set up and start 4 different renders for each video?

Re: So fed up with DVD

I assume that with TMPGenc you can only do one file at a time so I will still have to do some maths on my own. I have three projects and so three rendered files to fit on disc (Feature, Highlights...

So fed up with DVD

So, even though I've moved to USB as my main delivery, I made the mistake of including a single DVD in the package. I guess out of fear that some wouldn't book with no DVD.

Anyway... DVD surely...

Re: Asking more from the couple - Cinematic shots

Do you guys think the video I linked is a case of the couple looking uncomfortable?

I don't feel that this was any more demanding than anything that photographers ask of them.

The differences...
