Re: This video is putting me of the 160A
Hmm. Try to get a wider opinion. Do some research (here and other forums), the poster of that video has been disgruntled with just about every camera out there. There's plenty of satisfied AC130/160...

Re: PluralEyes 3 for windows (finally) released
At last! Hope it's as good as it promises, I bought PluralEyes last year on the promise of the upgrade for Windows "coming early in the New Year".
I wonder what the impact of the next version of...

James, postage to the UK is only $9, and at that price point you only pay duty, not VAT (or is it the other way round). Approx. £46 all in.
I buy stuff like this from USA all the time without any...

Re: Slider Head Recommendation
Pete, you're right. I had dreams of getting interesting angles like that - sliding up and towards something, or a slide that goes to the left and up, for example. I even had an idea that I could use...

Re: Slider Head Recommendation
Pete, my Vinten Vision Blue won't even hold my Glidetrack SD, and it's 100 times the head that my 701HDV was. Mounting it to a fluid head is asking for trouble (or at least, asking for wobbles).

Re: Any one used the EA50 in the rain?
Don't laugh... I tried to find a mini umbrella with a hotshoe mount once, until I realised it may be a bad idea! Which is probably why B&H and CVP didn't have any on their websites!

Re: Any one used the EA50 in the rain?
The camera may just pick up a little bit of noise from the rain rattling off the umbrella. And in this country anyway, rain tends not to fall neatly in a vertical direction, it has been known to be...

Re: Help ! - What size filter for GY-HM150?
David,
The manual is available online at various places, including: Frank's thoughts on HDV - Documentation Index (http://www.humanvalues.net/hdv/pdf/)
It says 46mm with lens hood removed, 72mm...

Re: aftermarket batteries
I'd be interested in a charger too, if it doesn't break the bank.
I've gone with the Panasonic batteries. £150 each, it's eye watering. My batteries cost more than most peoples cameras do! But I...

Re: Hopping mad... no interval recording?
Panasonic AC130 or AC160 is the Panny equivalent of the NX5, and has interval recording. Canon don't have an equivalent at that price range. JVC's HM600 also has interval, I think. But check that...

Re: Sony HVR-Z1 buying advice please
Gareth,
Agree 100% with Adam, that camera is getting on a bit.
Buying new, modern cameras at the lower end of the professional range are the Canon XA10, Sony NX30 and Panasonic AC90.
The...

Re: Will NTSC Play in UK?
Maybe stating the obvious, but anyway. As it's your own DVD, build it as region 0 and there's no worries at all about encoding, hacking your player etc.
Playback of NTSC may still be a problem on...

Re: Best camera for under $3500
Alex, the big question is what you want to use it for, and what your needs are.
The "big cameras" in this spec area (i.e. good range of manual controls, including NDs and XLRs), are:
Panasonic...

Re: Best camera for under $3500
Consider the Panasonic AC130 as well, it's about $3300 at B&H at the moment and gives a lot of manual controls and a great lens.

Re: Camcorder Image Quality at Full Zoom
My Sony NX70 had degraded image quality at higher zoom settings, and it was a single small sensor with a small (37mm filter) lens. I'm talking optical zoom here, I wouldn't touch digital zoom with a...

Yes, I noticed that too - I was delighted when the unit arrived and it only had short cables. Fantastic. I haven't had much time to play with it yet, but a quick test shows that it gives a...
