Re: Uhd to hd. Is there a dynamic range improvement

Don't know about measurable color and dynamic range improvements but a couple of years ago I shot a lot of 4k with my GH4 and brought into 1080 projects since I didn't have 4k compatible software...

Re: Trying to select a video editor to learn with

Keep in mind that you need the computer power to use a lot of the more feature enhanced editing programs. Most build there computers to match the editing software they are going to use. I think...

Re: Exploring Middle Creek, TN

Yes, having too much equipment is a hinderance if you want to remain mobile in the field. I have seriously paired back my gear on longer excursions to camera, 2 lenses, tripod and slider.

Re: Why is Vimeo so slooooowwww?

Always been that way for me. Vimeo for quality but YouTube for speed in loading. I used to think it was my internet provider but I have a really fast connection now.

Re: HEVC licensing

Re: Vimeo shut down my account

Thanks Noa. IMO U.S. copyright law looks at stealing video and music as the same. Personally I know several budding music composers and believe me their work is just as dear to them as my video...

Re: Vimeo shut down my account

I have filed over 30 DMCA takedown complaints with Vimeo where my footage was stolen and they deleted several member accounts. I applaud their aggressive efforts. On the flip side with YouTube I...

Re: Hoarding old gear - just me?

I used to keep old gear. Now I sell or donate any equipment I don't use. It is really scary how much $$$ I have spent on gear over the years and how the price of new gear keeps going down while the...

Re: Gopro Hero 6 Affordable, And Some Other Thoughts

I have used the Hero 6 very little since I recently acquired it but the imagery looks passable for situations where I couldn't or wouldn't use my GH5. It is a specialty camera for sure and not much...

Re: Gopro Hero 6 Affordable, And Some Other Thoughts

I picked up a Hero 6 a couple of weeks ago for some stream work. I am still experimenting with it, especially the wi-fi range underwater. The h.265 clips ingest well into my NLE (Edius 8.5...

Re: Vimeo alternatives

I agree with Noah. I pay for a music license or use an Attribution Noncommercial license if allowed by the owner. It is the right thing to do. A couple of years ago I had a Vimeo and Youtube user...

Re: GH5 in the National Forest

I use a lot of slow-motion. In Edius on a 29.97 timeline I just change the desired 59.94 clips to the project timeline speed and it looks good. On 59.94 clips that I don't want in slow-motion I...

Re: UWOL 47 - Watch the films here

Bob, really nice footage. I am envious of that black bear shot. In all my years in the mountains I have never got a good shot of them.
