Re: ENG Style zoom lens for FS-100?

Actually there is a world of difference one is professional grade with Zeiss ED glass optics, image stabilization and host of other features. It may be twice the cost but it is five times the lens.

Re: ENG Style zoom lens for FS-100?

Though not a 10x zoom, this could be a good choice for an every-day lens with full functions:

Re: New Technicolor Profile Is Amazing

While I think this profile is a step in the right direction and I do not want to put a damper on this workaround, it also tells me my choice of abandoning the 7D was right. On it's release I jumped...

Re: ND Filters

I still say its almost impossible to see much difference in filter quality when looking at 7D footage.

Anyway - here is the answer for this from Tiffen:

Re: Upcoming hands-on comparison of F3, FS100 and AF100 from Philip Bloom

Actually Phil I should have worded this better "so it's fairly hard to review the FS-100 without being a little bias", meaning that as a new F3 owner it's hard not to be biased, because I know for...

Re: Upcoming hands-on comparison of F3, FS100 and AF100 from Philip Bloom

Realize that Philip Bloom just invested in the F3 so it's fairly hard to review the FS-100 without being a little bias. From his review I feel that if the FS-100 had ND's and SDI no one would be...

Re: ND Filters

While agree about sticking poor filters on great lenses is a bad choice, the 7D is not 'great' video (just my IMHO). I am not trying to inflame here.

I shot a doc recently on a 7D - over a one...

Re: FS100 and F3, Alister's Video

Like many others I have been waiting for Scarlet. In fact, the Epic-S would get my money right now. But it's not available and neither is Scarlet. I think it will be another 12 months before the new...

Re: Upcoming hands-on comparison of F3, FS100 and AF100 from Philip Bloom

First gut impressions:

F3 - superb images as expected but the FS-100 matched this image almost every shot and displayed incredible low-light capability.
AF-101 barely held up against the above...

Looking forward to the tests Phil. Your impressions of the FS-100 particularly.

Hopefully you can post soon! Cheers.

Some movement and whispered rumors on availability...

Well I am beginning to see a little movement by the larger Sony dealers on the FS-100.

B & H just sent me a second notice to confirm my pre-order - weeks after the first one. Then AbelCine said...

Re: Problem buying F3

I wonder whats going on myself.

Even before the March 11th disaster, major Japanese manufacturers could not keep up with demand - just look at the Panny GH2 debacle ... even though it's now easier...

Re: 7D 1.2.5 firmware back now on USA site

Yes it is.

If I need a camera now I would go for the Sony F3 but the FS-100 is less than half the price with almost no difference in image, so I am waiting!
It feels like the Red's will never get...

Re: 7D 1.2.5 firmware back now on USA site

Bruce - I am on the fence waiting.

I shot a doc for the last 12 mths in China using the 7D with very mixed results. While it was great to move fast and light, the 7D was a pig to use and when I...

Canon 7D Batteries and Chargers

I have three Canon brand batteries - LP-E6 for sale. One is unused and boxed and the other two are used but for one video shoot only - so probably charged two or three times.
I will include two...

Re: DR-100 & Drift

I havent seen any drift using my DR-100 with a Canon 7d and a GH2. My longest interview segments are about 10 mins - but still fine.

Re: 7D 1.2.5 firmware back now on USA site

I already moved - just gnaws at me that the two items you mention would not cost anything to add... so where is Canon's motive? I now they have been bombarded with requests.

The idea that you...

Re: 7D 1.2.5 firmware back now on USA site

I am extremely underwhelmed .... My 7D will remain on the shelf I think.

I waited in the hopes Canon would address obvous shortcomings or at least some user complaints that firmware could fix -...

Re: Focusing with GH2

My point in film schools was directed to editing techniques not shooting. I never learned a thing about shooting at a film school.

Re: Good video lens for my 7D?

The classic lens you are missing is also the Canon 70-200 F2.8L or F.4L .... incredible lens - both of them.

I actually went with the F4 after using the 2.8 because of the weight issue - I shoot...

Re: Focusing with GH2

I meant that shutter priority is not used in video - in stills yes, but no professional I know would use this mode in video. I do own a GH2 and recently shot B-roll in a doc with it - not once did I...

Re: Focusing with GH2

You should expose for the highlights - not the shadows or even the midtones.

So expose for the brides dress by simply checking your histogram (which should always be on in the display anyway). You...

What are you shooting and is this hand-held, rig or tripod? Run & gun? You wants zooms so it sounds like you are working in non-fiction or docs right? This matters a great deal....

The canon...

Re: If you could could only purchase 1 mic

Do you need XLR inputs on the mic? Thats the main question and if so, I would go with the very inexpensive AT875 - less than $200.
Instead of the Beachtek I prefer to use a seperate recorder - my...
