Andy, Have you tried a hard peli style case?...

Andy,

Have you tried a hard peli style case? I have a Storm case, and you can get a fair amount in it. Since you'll be carrying it by hand you don't need to allow that much packing foam round the...

is having an XF300 and XF100 just kind of doubling up?

Don't know what work you do Andy, but the thing about little cameras for me, is that clients may think you're not a pro, even though the new Canon xf100 is pretty high end. If they saw you with a Z1...

I would love to see a side by side test of the XF100 and JVC HM100.

There's a shoot out here between the xf100 and the JVC and a mini Sony.

The Iris Mag - Edition 3 (http://www.theirismag.com/irisonline/edition3/) Takes a minute to load.

JVC comes last, due...

Don't let your rather dismissive friend put you off trying the XF100.

Mark Fry

He hasn't put me off Mark. Still very interested in the camera, but this is someone whose opinion i've always valued, so it has given me pause for thought. I've had great experience with...

Erik

Those prices are average for here in the UK. It will be on Ebay soon for a minus VAT price from Hong Kong i suspect if you want to take a chance with that. Two and a half k should be a decent...

At the London BVE today I had a chance to play with the xf100 alongside the cheaper avchd Xa10. No competition really, as the cheaper camera had nothing like the build quality or on camera features....

Great test. The bigger camera wins out in the early stages, but the 105 looks at least as good later on. Thanks for the link.

I suspect these 2 cameras will produce identical images, so it will come down to the codec issue. A bit like the choice between Panasonic's 170 and 150 cameras where side by side comparison's were...

I wonder if the movies will be any better. Certainly hasn't helped much thus far.

As Alfred Hitchcock said. " There are 3 things that make a great movie. A great Script, a great script and a great script."

I don't suppose any new computer chip is going to make people write...

If you're concerned about BBC guidelines, the way to go is the XF Canon range that shoot in 422 50 mbs. Whether the smaller xf100 gets the thumbs up, we'll have to wait and see. However you don't...
