Re: Blackmagic URSA B4 mount
I'd be really hard pressed to imagine any logical reason to use B4 primes in this day and age. The major advantage I can see for using a 2/3" camera would be the versatility, range and weight of the...

Re: Video Camera Stabilizers, quick question.
As always I'd suggest anyone getting into a Steadicam-style stabilizer to buy the Steadicam Operator's Handbook (on Amazon, etc), It's largely written for "big rigs" but even if you are working with...

I am actually 5 yrs "retired" from Steadicam operating but I think physics haven't changed much since!
Chris--a little nervous by the suggestion that you don't always need fingers on the post. It...

Re: Video Camera Stabilizers, quick question.
As always, it is what works for you. However I suggest you look at BTS footage of working Steadicam operators, or demos/interviews with the Steadicam folk at NAB etc. and you will see that very few...

Re: need lighting input! HMI's & bright windows
Those results are consistent with what I suggested in my earlier post--you got satisfactory results with M18's through light diffusion, whereas I recommended M40's but would have used full grid or...

Re: need lighting input! HMI's & bright windows
I think this is the key to it all. By "I am tasked", Darren, I am assuming that you mean the client has specifically requested that you maintain detail outside the windows. If that is the case, this...

Re: need lighting input! HMI's & bright windows
Let us know how you make out. It's probably going to be tough to get the head back as far as you would need to in a conference room vs what you will be doing with the dancers, so maybe simulate your...

Re: need lighting input! HMI's & bright windows
I would recommend that you go to your buddy's rental house and shoot a test with the 1200's against a similar facing window so you can audition the setup (and maybe he has various diffusions skinned...

Re: need lighting input! HMI's & bright windows
A few more pieces of information are important to consider here, chiefly, what camera? Are you shooting log? The better the dynamic range of the camera, the more you can get away with less firepower...

This is a small company doing custom work, and their Megaflex cable is becoming the go-to for Steadicam and gimbal operators who demand a super-flexible BNC:

Re: powering Sony a7s with external 12V battery
I was linking to the P-tap cable, they've added those battery solutions to the page since. I myself use Anton Bauer Dionics which are priced similarly, I suppose "outrageous" is all relative.

OK interesting. I haven't had the opportunity to use either of those units yet myself.
Green/magenta wouldn't show up in the Kelvin measurement though.

Or, it's possible the Litepanels may be magenta...!
The older Litepanels were not particularly color accurate. I haven't used the Astra models yet. Which model are you using?

Re: Deviating from the 180-degree shutter rule?
If you are looking for a rule of thumb, I would say that 45 degrees one way or another from 180 would be the most you could go without the effect starting to becoming noticeable, i.e. a 135 degree...
