Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use
Thanks for your most useful response Charles - greatly appreciated. Knowing you're happy with your Zeiss kit is quite an endorsement.
Duclos also de-click the aperture dials on the ZF versions...

Re: What kind of lenses are you planing to use
Any thoughts on Zeiss Ze glass? (for those of us who don't have a CP budget)
The 25/50/100 f2s all look rather good. Perhaps less than ideal focal lengths for the X300 and no IS, but the build...

C-Log for XFs?
It's my understanding that the C300 essentially borrows the brains (and codec) from the XF305. Given this, is there any reason Canon couldn't give XF users C-Log via a firmware update?
As someone...

Re: External recorder test: 1.1 firmware @25p
Hi Bill,
Yes, I haven't used any hacks at all. This is native HMDI output from the camera - no modifications.
Unfortunately my camera was tethered to a Mac Pro in my office so I couldn't get...

Re: Nikon D800 with video features
That's the great hope: it will be a huge difference if the image being output via HDMI is largely crisp and artifact free. But simply capturing direct to ProRes via HDMI isn't going to rid footage...

Re: Nikon D800 with video features
To me those clips don't surpass 5DII quality - would anyone be surprised if a 5DII had shot those? On paper the D800 is great, but image-wise it appears like Nikon is playing catch up.
The...

Re: Nikon D800 with video features
You're absolutely right about "normal" people John, but for me shooting DSLRs moire is *the* issue, along with its buddy aliasing.
The GH2 is the only DSLR I've used to date that adequately...

Re: Nikon D800 with video features
I'm aware of the alternative version, but I think it's a big leap to infer the OLPF filter must therefore be optimised for video. Portrait photographers, wedding photographers and many others are...

Re: Nikon D800 with video features
Are you sure the OLPF is not optimised for hi resolution stills? And surely 4:2:2 is not recorded to H.264 internally, but only via HDMI to an external recorder like the Pix220? Of course I'd love...

Re: SmallHD DP6 - Un-Support message
While I can't be too much help in solving your problem, I can at least say I use a DP6 with an XF300 all the time, so the combination is fine.
I did see that message just once, a couple of months...

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features
Hi Glen,
I'm not disputing the FS100's credentials... it's a great camera. The "real" inverted commas are directed at the notion a camera like the GH2 (which I do shoot with all day in the sun...

Re: Nikon D4 with new video features
The FS100 is certainly a nice camera, but (provided the HDMI output on the Nikon is usable and moire/aliasing are controlled) I'm not sure if it's that much more of a "real" video camera. Not for me...
