Ahhhh

But keep in mind that all that disc IO has its own Operating System thread. The OS will still have hefty overhead just to feed those cores the necessary data. An 8 core system might indeed be...

Quick note

Just a quick note that link for the $99 upgrade is out of stock. I'm not sure how B&H is offering the upgrade price lower than Sony, but hey... go for the deal!

Vegas doesn't care about your GPU

Vegas dosn't use or care about the GPU, unless you have some plugins that can make use of OpenGL or DirectX. Vegas is only about the CPU, RAM, and HD access speed. If you can stream two DV/HDV...

Not looking, but this might help sale....

I'm not looking for a DSLR..... at this time. :-) But it might help move the sale if you could provide a picture showing the flaw (probably have to blow it up or show it at 100% pixel for pixel) and...

Wow.....

A little patience please? 45minutes is not a lot of time to wait for the quality of answers you will receive.

Your setup will be just fine, though more information about the RAM would be helpful...

Lots of CC work and green screen?

If you expect to do lots of effects work or color correcting or compositing then load up on the cores. A Core 2 Quad or (if ou have the cash for it) a dual CPU Xeon system (with either Core 2 duo or...

Don't get me wrong...

Don't get me wrong... the Color Correction & Audio cleanup discs are very good. They focus more on instructing a user for a specific software tool rather than instructing in the theory of color and...

SmartSounds in Cinescore

That would be interesting for sure. Cinescore cannot control the individual instruments like SonicFire can so either Cinescore will get different themes to work with, or will just lack the ability...

Vasst

If you have used Vegas for any amount of time greater than a few months or if you have cut at least several longer projects (more than a minute or so), then you can skip Discs1-3. They contain...

Audio compression

I did heavily compress the audio (bumped down the bitrate and sample frequency). I'll re-encode with a normal audio bitrate and not worry about file sizes.

I also did re-master the ducks...

Sky Color

I'm considering placing the quicktime any way. Especially since I only get ~3-5 unique visitors a day.

Good point. I tried to pick shots where the difference is the most obvious, but I'll go...

Cinescore

You will forever be disappointed by the range & quality of themes..... but it has two major selling points for me.... cheap & fast to learn.

SonifFire's theme selection & quality will completely...

Sample Color Correction vs Raw for Demo

I recently purchased all 8 discs of the VASST series for Vegas. After whipping through at 1.5x playback for discs 1-3 (nothing new there since I've been using vegas since v6) I came to Disc 4, color...

Depends on the amount of "Ken Burns" applied...

Since I `Burns the heck out of some pictures (zooming way in on 3MB pictures) I need all the resolution I can get. But there is a noticeable degrading in preview frame rate with images that large.

Cinescore vs SonicFire

I had purchased Cinescore and have demo'ed SonicFire and I hands down like the sound of SonicFire over Cinescore. May be Cinescore just used synths for much of the instrumentations, or may be it is...

CamStudio

Another vote for CamStudio. Works very well and can record/transcode (transcoding is done after recording step) to many formats. Vary handy and very free.

I dont' want to side track the thread, but.....
Where did I miss that limitation in the V8Pro feature set? They don't mention it on the web site..... is it in the fine print on the EULA?

Anyone know differently?
