Re: Does anyone use a spinning platform for a ring macro shot?

It has the potential to look good in a highlight style video or same day edit; it doesn't have to look cheesy. I don't think it would be hard to stay in focus, just put the ring right in the middle...

Re: Bride/Groom Prep (Awkward?)

I went to school and got a degree in Radio Television and Film with an emphasis on Film (so it's almost film school). The first two years I hardly touched a camera, plus we still had to take the...

Re: If I go FF, will f2.8 be fast enough?

You're talking about a different price bracket. He was asking about a 6D, which i much cheaper than the c100 or fs100. The lowlight of the 6D is going to be much greater than something similar to a...

Re: Viability of 4K

I tend to agree with Peter. I think shutter speed is going to be a huge issue utilizing the same camera for both.

The part of 4k that excites me the most is the ability to reframe in post...

Re: please critique this wedding films

I'm getting the same thing. I thought my headphones were dying.

I like the short. I essentially agree with what Noa said. Awesome visuals. The audio is very important. ...

Re: What's so great about Canon DSLRs?

That made laugh.

I think Canon had a huge advantage because it was the first (or at least first to make a splash) DSLR to offer 1080p video, so people initially gravitated towards the canon...

Re: Rude Congregation

To be fair they are able and do vet their brides pretty well before accepting a wedding job, so the odds of Still Motion covering a wedding as described is pretty slim.

Your point is well taken...

Re: Just how good is the Go Pro 3?

The GoPro 3 Black Edition can shoot at 60 fps at 1080p or even 48 fps at 1440p. That shot may have worked better with the newer model.

Re: Packaging of final product

It's interesting that the Adobe Creative Cloud versions of their suite was released yesterday, but Encore is no longer a part of the suite. Granted you can download Encore CS6, but both Apple and...

Re: 5D + Super 8

I love that they are doing something unique. I'm sure it's a niche (and pricey) market to have someone record on film. If a bride really wanted that style, the look could simulate the style through...

Re: Bouquet cam

That's a fun angle. It would have been interesting to see a camera in the flowers when she threw them. From the YouTube comments it was a GoPro 2, so I'm sure that could have hurt someone trying to...

Re: Camera roll call - what do you shoot with, how do you feel it performs?

I was using GH2 and Gh3 cameras, but recently sold those of and now a canon 6D and 5D Mark III for the incredible low light. Like Noa said, being able to crank the ISO and still have usable footage...

Re: How could I not?

Did he say somewhere that he didn't get the rights to use that music? All music is copyrighted, you are using the Music Bed to purchase the rights to use that music.

Regardless, I liked the...

Re: Bride cancels 3 days before wedding - what would you do?

We do 50% up front and 50% a week before the wedding. I've never had an issue with a bride not being willing to pay. It must be based, partly, on the region you are in.

Re: Heckled during speeches

For anyone interested in the city of lakes wedding that was mentioned earlier. Here is the blogpost from Still Motion about it. Since it was partly scripted it is very movie set like, but a very...

Re: Heckled during speeches

I think someone already may have said this, but I think a lot of it comes down to expectations of the bride and groom. If they hired someone to make a cinematic wedding then they want those shots...

Re: Suggestions on Equipment for a start up

You can also rent gear as you need it. Especially when you are first starting out and may not have the income from weddings to support purchasing gear. It also gives you the option to try out gear...

Re: Wedding Guest Messages with DSLR

I don't know what your budget is, but the Tascam DR-60 is really nice. It allows you to use it as an external recorder or you can use the two xlr inputs and have it forward into your DSLR (or both)....

Re: Getting contracts signed

If you advertise on Wedding Wire they have a service that allows people to sign the contract online with their mouse. That's what I've been using and enjoy the ease of use.

Re: Processional and Recessional tips

Re: Black Magic Pocket Camera

From my understanding Prores would not be a huge change in workflow since you're coming from a DSLR workflow. The files will be bigger. The biggest difference is that it will shoot really flat...

Re: Wedding Packages

From my experience the "wedding films" definitely take more time to edit.
