Would it give a higher quality image to go to something like a DVCPRO50 sequence, instead of DV? I use FCP too.

I would suggest shooting 60i and then deinterlacing or going to 24p with a quality plugin in post. I have never liked PPRO's deinterlace options, but I bet there are some good plugins. Magic Bullet?...
