Re: Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
Thanks Joe, for the very encouraging post...I'm sure someday in the not so distant future I'll have the third job added to my list as well.
Oh, and I am pretty sure that "Jerry McGuire" moment is...

Re: Best stablizing software for Mac?
I don't have any input on stabilizers, but like Nigel said...There's plenty you can do, just don't beat yourself up about it. Use cutaways, even from different parts of the ceremony, or anything you...

I started this thread a couple weeks back, and now the highlight video is done, so I wanted to share and get any feedback! I realize this probably belongs in the sample gallery, but since it was...

Re: Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
Noel, sounds like we are in pretty much the same situation.
And don't get me wrong, I didn't start this thread to complain about having to do both jobs. I don't mind my day job, and that's what...

Re: Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
Yes, "us" meaning a husband and wife team. Sigmund, we don't make NEAR what you suggested yet, which is why it's not feasible to go full time with the wedding video biz. The "day" job is a 9-5 desk...

Re: What order do you edit your footage?
Like Tim, we sort through everything marking good video and sound bytes.
I usually do a trailer, and most of the time - although not always - that doubles as my DVD motion menu. Something 1...

Re: Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
I'm very willing. I just didn't have the financial means to dive right in and hope things worked out....it seems like they are working out now. I hope I am someday working 80 hours for myself, as...

Re: Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
wow Ben, that is very ambitious. I'm at least lucky enough to have a no-brainer 9-5 that I get to leave every day and not bring home with me. Exactly why I accepted the job in the first place, so I...

Full-time vs. 2 Full-times
I know that a lot of you are full time at the wedding video gig. But I thought it would be interesting to see who wasn't.
For us, having other jobs was the ONLY way to start up our business. ...

Raising Prices, and Packages
There are a lot of threads on here about packages, but some of them pretty old, so I thought I would check in and see what others were offering now.
Right now we have 3 basic packages:
Ceremony...

Re: DVD Formats
What program are you using to author / burn?
Since switching to Taiyo Yuden DVDs, and burning everything from Toast at 4x we have had no problems. Slower write speed = less chance of errors...

Well this has been helpful. The Atlas series is out of our price range, but the DP and The Konova are right in there. For those of you using the Konova, are you shooting on DSLR, or video cams or...

Just wondering which slider you all recommend. We are looking to add one to our wedding gear.
We were hoping to get a shorter one that requires only one tripod -- I was looking at the Indislider...

I would second Jeff's opinion. Maybe for momentous birthdays or anniversaries, but I can't see why anyone would just want a video for a non-occasion.
We have done one 90th birthday video, and...
