Just tell us what firmware, format you shoot and NLE you use and I will give the settings.

DVCPRO HD is 4:2:2 but it is compressed. So yes you get 4:2:2 to your laptop but with the DVCPRO HD codec.

I didn't see anywhere at what shutter speed you are shooting. If you by any chance were shooting under 1/60th then it would be hard to do a decent slowmo with the FX1.

I created a 1080i DVD-R (HD DVD format) with MPG2, H264, PCM and AC3 audio all in one DVD and it works fine.

Now I have to try a DVD+R and DL+R.

If the final output is to DVD you don't have to downconvert. All you have to do is create an SD DVD. That way you can see it in letterbox on 4:3 tvs and full screen on 16:9 tvs.
