Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Man, David, maybe if it had been the worm, I could understand....lol.

I may have a deep, personal appreciation for getting random stuff like that (or see the link), but I know perfectly well,...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Haha, yeah, my wife and I both kind of hated that guy.

I setup the DJ gear first thing in the morning, then went to film the couple.

When we book both video and DJ, I always try to have a...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

LoL. Yeah, Noa caught that earlier. I wouldn't usually let that happen, but its my only clean shot at that moment (out of 4 cameras. 4!) and I'm not going to edit myself out.

We currently have...

Re: Long Highlights Format

Peter, you have to decide what the 15-25 minute wedding film is for. If it is replacing the super long form, than go ahead and keep it linear. Maybe have the rare exception for a nice attention...

Re: Optimum length for a Wedding Video

The 20 minute isn't really for their friends, its for them and maybe their family and besties. I sell it as 'this is the one you'll watch over and over on your anniversary.' The 5'er is for sharing...

Our current offering:

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

As a P.S. to this... here is the longer highlight video we deliver. The client gets the short, this longer one, and the full ceremony/speeches/special dances.

Dawson and Morgan's wedding film on...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Here is the template I'd been using:

And other than when my wife accidentally rolls her shutter speed up higher... or maybe in a VERY bright spot when I'll go up to shutter 100.. we shoot 24 fps...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

We're shooting 24 fps and 48 shutter speed (thank you, Magic Lantern). Maybe its something in my render? I'll check the settings tomorrow. Maybe I made a mistake somewhere.

Re: wide angle lenses for dancing

I've used the 14mm on a full frame or crop factor when I want the head-to-toe dancing - very handy when there is a circle with somebody in the middle... The slight distortion never bothered me.

I...

Re: Wedding on a yacht - need advice?

Joe Simon has a nice video somewhere where he shows techniques of how to mic someone to shield the wind. Perfect for wireless or pocket recorders.

Agreed on not doing handheld, letting everything...

Re: Cloud backup for Video?

First, I'd love to know how your weddings are under 100GB.... I'd love that.

Mostly, if you're internet isn't fast enough, carry an external HD to someone else's house every so often. For the...

Re: Stuck at a Price Point

If you're easily hitting your maximum number of bookings for the year, you should be raising your prices. Even if its only a modest increase to get your best profits. $100 added onto 40 bookings...

Re: American tradition

ummm... hello.

Its not a tradition so much as an lovely idea someone started in the relatively recent past. I wrote a note to my wife on our wedding day, and that was before we ever started...

Re: Is anyone here using their smartphone to swipe credit cards for on-the-spot sales

This... looks like some sort of pyramid scheme? Telemarketing? I see complaints from people saying they were 'sales reps' working for commissions and that management lied to them, so they ended up...

Re: Sneak Peeks & Trailers, Youtube the place?

Oops, you're getting your terms mixed up there, Chris. Smartsound tracks are still copyrighted. They're royalty free, which is different. Here, you pay a simple one time fee, then get to use them...

Re: Sneak Peeks & Trailers, Youtube the place?

Not really a grey area. YouTube works WITH the copyright holders. IF you use a pop song in your video, and they allow it to stay online, its because the copyright holder made that choice. If they...

Re: Asked to film for another company

I will admit, I kind of don't agree. 40 an hour would be fine IF it covered all the work, not just "filming" time. And if I wasn't using all my own gear.

Sabyasachi has some fair points. For...

Noa, here is everything we ask about to make sure of. I guess I don't know what will be different from what you're used to.

Possible before the ceremony:

- gift or letter exchange (for this,...

Re: Sneak Peeks & Trailers, Youtube the place?

Both Vimeo and YouTube scan for copyright violations now. Both will ban you if they have to, though I've only heard of a few cases. A bigger issue for us with violation is that, if your video gets...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Its even stranger than that, Chris. I've been the DJ at a two weddings with the same video guy. He only shoots for the highlights he told me.

So, for instance, at the first wedding he wasn't...

Re: My latest - back with 4 minute short form

I'm glad to hear my biased eyes are too rose colored. Thank you, Chris. I've been frustrated by our mistakes that we keep making and this is the first one this year I've been pretty happy with.
