I loaded FCP 6.2 on the MacBookPro and everything worked as advertised.
You Must have FCP on the machine (or I guess any other editing host software) to be able to see XDCAM Transfer images.

Can you delete all clips from card at once?
Well, I got the camera and I am having fun. There is a learning curve!
