7D, GREAT tool for timelapses!
The following short video is shot primarily with the 7D and the Canon 803 remote for timelapses.
Manual shutter and Iris in my opinion are a must for fairly short timelapses.

If you are impatient, that could be a problem. Remember, the camera will be out in March, which means that to get a good idea of the difference between the T2i and 7D it may take another good month...
