I am not sure it's possible to first edit, save to something else, and then remove pulldown. All the right progressive/interlaced frames will be saved differently and then none of the known methods...

If it was recorded as 50i, then it's correctly showing up as "upper field first". It should be progressive only if you are 100% sure that something was shot as 25p.

Yes, it's normal. A 2:20 minute using the freeware pulldown method using hte Lagarith codec would be about 2.8 GBs, so yeah, 1.75 GB is better. ;)

There's obviously a hardware fault, just return the camera to where you bought it, not necessarily to Canon. If you must, there are customer numbers for US customers on Canon's US site.
