Re: lighting a converted studio

Rory, you've done a good job describing the set, but I'm wondering if you can upload a floor plan of the room? Even if it's a just simple drawing.

Re: Looking for 12 pin camera to Cinedeck cables

I was going to recommend having them made up locally.

There's a rental house in Austin that makes their own cables, and to me they look better and stronger than the originals, plus whatever custom...

Re: Mysterious Zoom: I fear my FS5 is possessed

I was going to suggest swapping out your lens with a different one, if possible (any others to be borrowed nearby?) -- if the problem repeats, it's in the camera body. If the problem does not repeat,...

Re: Video Glitch

Howdy Pete,

Yes, I've experienced that first-hand as well.

The EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS, in my opinion, is an absolutely fantastic lens -- practically "L series" quality in optical performance; it...

re: Vimeo / YouTube embedding issue... (fixed).

Aaaand... done. Short-form "share" links for YouTube (i.e., youtu.be) are now embedding properly.

Clip container width enlarged from 720px to 960px.

Scratching this one off as *completed.*

re: Vimeo / YouTube embedding issue... (fixed).

Another fix now in place is the ability to select full screen display from the embedded clip controls.

Works for both Vimeo and YouTube.

re: Vimeo / YouTube embedding issue... (fixed).

Some progress. YouTube links are now properly embedding, as long as you're using the full link from the URL bar and not the shorter "share" version. For an example, see this thread:...

Re: C100mkii Card A Says Ended

Arthur, my apologies, I am mistaken. There was a "hard reset" button on the back panel of the original C100. Looks like that feature was dropped from the Mk. II version.

I think you should reset...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

You create the storyboard and give it to the DP.

From that, the DP creates the shot list and gives it to you.

For more info, see the entire presentation at Storyboards and Shot Lists...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

As the Director, you're a director of acting. Not photography.

During pre-production, you will have reviewed the shot list that the DP had prepared, and the two of you will have already discussed...

Re: C100mkii Card A Says Ended

Hi Arthur, if I were you, I would do both types of resets -- the one in the menu option as well as the "hard reset" using a paper clip -- are you aware of that procedure?

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

It's not new to the A7s II -- it's always been there. It's found under the Marker Settings menu.

To be clear, it's a framing guide. You're still recording in 16:9 but the aspect ratio guide...
