Re: Asked to film for another company

I'm willing to bet he's just a middle man. His business is booking as many weddings as he can, then trying to find someone to do the actual work.

We have a fair number of them in the U.S. Often...

My latest - back with 4 minute short form

Sometime in the last year I got back on the short form (4-8 minute) bandwagon. Now we deliver short form, medium (15-20 minute highlight for online) that we call a wedding film, and the full length...

Re: recording Sound in a church

I'm with you, Noa. The most common for me is to dirty up the sound a bit with the feed from my on-camera shotgun mic.

My arrangement:
wireless lav on pastor which goes to my aisle cam
pocket...

Re: Magic Lantern?

Awww, continuous recording... I can't believe I forgot the number one reason to get Magic Lantern (with audio meters being a close 2nd).

Re: Drone Shot Down

Ha, though at 200 feet, it wouldn't have reached.

If the flyer is at all truthful, then I have a serious problem with the shooter. Of course, even if it had been hovering at 10 feet, he can't...

Re: Drone Shot Down

Elevation is a key element, of course. If it had been flying at 200 feet, no issue. If it really is hovering, just over his deck (10 feet? 20 feet?), I think they need to enact some privacy laws. ...

Re: Magic Lantern?

I don't do RAW, because of the work flow, though it or dual ISO are great for establishing/detail shots, when you don't need the audio.

*audio meter on screen is huge.
*zebras or other focusing...

re: I'm considering buying a 70D for Weddings

If you're going to get a DSLR, would a 4K option be better at this point?

If you really are talking about the Canon 70D, then Greg Boston pointed out pretty much everything... we...

Re: Wedding - color grade and shooting style

Don't forget, different videos for different purposes (or people).

For instance, I can easily see that this would target their friends relations who really just aren't going to watch a 15 or 45...

Re: Data DVD Delivery in MP4

Mostly because a lot of new computers don't even have CD/DVD drives anymore. Storage size is kind of a bummer, too.

Re: Video: First Look at Canon XC10

Curious to see how far you can push the iso.

Also not clear if the touchscreen allows the same facial tracking as the 70D... as in, touch the face/object on the screen and it tracks that.

Re: Biggest Challenge with DSLRs

A hood is great. In a jam, tape together 4 credit cards (into a square). Ta Da!

I just had an outdoor and trusted to the metering since there wasn't anything to ruin the readings, like a sunny...

Re: Embarrassing fall over

Just a few weeks ago, I took a hard fall when I stepped on a spilled drink at the dance. It was very dark. Fortunately the only damage was to my Canon nifty fifty. I can't imagine why I had that...

Re: The average edit...

James, I don't get why you'd do it in that order, short form first, then full length?

I tried that and really didn't like it. There were always clips I missed, or better ideas. Now, I do the...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

My weddings each run 200-400 GB. I know hard drives are cheap, but that's 2 new drives a year, just for that privilege (since I double backup everything). Mostly, I just don't want to store that...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

Thanks, Mike, that is what I've been using.

With my new find, I think I may try rendering the mpg from Vegas as best quality and full 8 bit, like Architect wants, then let Architect do the...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

OK, I found it, I think.

Not only do I have to be more careful about EXACTLY which Architect codec I use, (DVD Architect 24p NTSC Widescreen video stream), more importantly

In Architect's...

Re: The average edit...

My processional editing takes a shockingly large amount of time, but, yes, that's pretty close for me.

For me, before I'm ever in my editor, I dump all the files into a folder, then sort them into...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

Well, I used Sony's native mpg-Architect codec, just lowered the bitrates. I tried both 9 separate files, and a different set of renders totalling 3 larger files. Neither worked out.

For...

Re: Smaller package, same big price

Yeah, I don't quite get what this camera is for, really. One person speculated this is the camera they'll be putting on their own UAV.

For now, all I can think of is the pitch:

"Our all NEW...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

Garret, I used to use Sony's tool that sent it straight to Architect. That meant having all my material in one project. Now I render each "chapter" or video as its own mpg and AC3, then gather it...

Re: Architect problem... claims project is more GB than it is

I may have simply misunderstood the bitrate it suggested (though I don't think so). I did see that one file, at about 500 mb, showed up in Architect as 618 mb.

I'm rendering the whole set...
