Re: Youtube and Copyright

The YouTube licence doesn't cover commercial use. So you as a company do not get exemption. Joe simon, David Robin and others have been sued for YouTube vids which were permitted by the robot to use...

Re: Quick Poll - Charging for mileage

90 miles included in the price. Outside of that they get sent our next tier of pricing which covers greater distance and gives us the option of an overnight stay.

The cost visible to the couple...

Re: Do you charge for rehearsals?

If we were to attend then yes, we would charge or if its something you like to do then factor it into your prices.

That said we don't attend rehearsals and talk brides out of it if they want it...

Re: The Quickdraw Lens Belt - Opinions?

I can assure you, its worth it. Build quality is exceptional, its uses are numerous and unlike all the other lens bags I've seen it doesn't stick out a mile when you have the 70-200 in it.

Re: How can we change the norm, or are we trying to control to much

If we try to change anything we make sure its not obvious. We always change things to go our way and often without telling anyone. So many people like to tell us "Oh, well the video guy yesterday...

Re: The Quickdraw Lens Belt - Opinions?

He seems to conveniently forget to mention the lens bag such as the shootsac.

Ours is invaluable. Holds lenses, bottle of water, memory cards, business cards and the all important mobile phone :)...

Re: Your favorite "Add-On's" that have made your life so much easier!

Took us a year to use it. Takes seconds to setup and then makes things easier. You also played with changing the active take? Say you dont like the angle, just right click and choose the other camera...

Re: Passing wedding video jobs on

Bingo! We also upgraded our gear to c100 and handed down the old gear. They also don't get steadicam. The final packaging is cheaper, product is less bespoke and all aimed at keeping the initial cost...

Re: Passing wedding video jobs on

We had a similar situation.

We use Tave for our bookings. EVERY lead goes into it automatically and when we close a job for whatever reason we always log it i.e already booked, unavailable for...

Re: How many of you pay commission to get a job?

There is also the question of 'Do you want to be tied to a venue?'

The common practice here in the UK is if you pay to be in the venues brochure they give to couples (really you and the other...

Re: light phasing problem

This happens with a lot of modern LED setups. Often the cheaper ones when they use a mix of different coloured LED's to make a new colour i.e mixing red and blue to make a purple. Lower shutter...

Re: Venue trying to charge all vendors "policy acknowledgement fee". Opinions?

It just occurred to me that this isn't a uncommon as I first thought. The oldest cartel in the world does it all the time... The church.

I would say 95% of our clients who have a church wedding...

Re: How many of you pay commission to get a job?

We don't. Just because we don't believe in being 'recommended' when your really just a sponsor. When people recommend us we want to really be recommended.

30% is just insane but I'm guessing that...

Re: Hot swapping lenses, one more time...

Can't see why turning off will make it less likely to attract dust. Turning off will not instantly remove any static charge.

Our sensors are squeaky clean. We always have the new lens lined up...

Re: Hot swapping lenses, one more time...

C100 here and no problems so far.

I suspect that the camera designed for run and gun wedding shooters had this problem fixed. Especially as they never included the hot swap lens button

Re: Any camcorders out there with shallow DOF?

The fixed servo lens is going to limit your ability to get a shallow DoF.

Shallow DoF with video erganomics then you want to look at the Sony FS100 or Canon C100. Canon do make a servo driven...

Re: Are we heading back to tape?

I can imagine that the costs will be high.

Given that an Ultrium 4 drive is around £1200 and tapes are £70 each the cost for archiving is pretty high.

For big companies who will use the drive...

Re: Re-adding deleted audio

The editors do the multicaming so doesn't bother me ;)

But that's also why I need a script to re-add audio after they remove it and I think it would be better with it.

Re-adding deleted audio

Just checking to see if there is an easy way to do this.

Say I removed all the audio from a clip or series of clips. Is there an easy way to re-add the audio to the timeline?

Currently I right...

Re: How much does posing matter (for video or for photos)?

Re: How much does posing matter (for video or for photos)?

Photos yes. Video no.

That one photo will be studied and revered by the couple.

For video they aren't actors and when people are posed it's often obvious they've been posed and they behave in...
