Re: Need suggestions\input for new homebuilders Video

Hi Gary,

Yes there is an issue currently with video embedding on this site.

I'm aware of it and hope to have it fixed and working properly soon.

In the meantime the direct link to Rainer's...

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

The JVC GY-HM180 camcorder is a current model, the least expensive of their professional 4KCAM line-up, and it has Time Stamp. It's available from B&H for less than $1300:...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

They're gone, hopefully.

Pan & scan was just a way to show widescreen films on old-school analog 4:3 television screens.

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

We're closing in fast on 200 posts in this discussion, nothing wrong with that; although it's been very circular the occasional side-roads have made it somewhat interesting.

Ryan, my friend, I...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

Agreed. What really appeals to me about a mini-series is that so much more can be done with the narrative arc relative to a typical two- or three-hour film. Even if it's just one season, such as...

Re: Reverberation Fixes

Howdy Don,

I had a somewhat similar situation many years ago, and I really didn't "fix it" but I managed to make it sound a lot better using a Parametric EQ.

That was back in the analog era and...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

You're not alone. At home pretty much the only thing we have on the TV (which is happily off most of the time) is Turner Classic Movies. Although we've also had good luck recently with MGM-HD,...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

Yes, quite difficult... but not impossible, my friend. It can be done. Orson left us 33 years ago, but The Other Side of The Wind (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069049/) hit theaters just last...

Re: How does a filmmaker decide which aspect ratio to shoot in?

Stanley Kubrick disagrees. (https://www.alternateending.com/blog/kubrick-and-his-ratios)

Forgive me if I've just opened a can of worms here, but it's true.

Likewise, I just went through the owner's manual for the GY-HD250, which is located online at http://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/HDTV/manual/GY-HD250inst.pdf

There's an extensive section regarding...

I'm aware that the video links are not embedding properly.

It might take a day or two to get the situation resolved but I'm working on it... it is a priority.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

Hi Tim,

Yes the model nomenclature can get confusing at times.

I believe you're referring to the GY-HD200 and GY-HD250.

I had confused them for the GY-HM200, which is a different animal.

Well, I hope I haven't spoken too soon. I just looked through the GY-HM700 manual and couldn't find it.

Re: Timecode/Date output burn GY-200, 250, HM-700?

I just checked the owner's manual for the GY-HM200 and yes you can do this (burn-in during recording).

The feature is called Time Stamp and is described on page 117 near the bottom.

The HM200...
