Re: Camera(s) to replace XLH1a

I would go for the XF300 above the XF100 as the A cam if you can swing it. Amazing camera. XF100 is a great B cam.

Re: Clients and payment

If that was the case, then they need to pay before the screening. Simple.

I payment in installments, but ALL is paid by the wedding date. If they don't remember on the wedding (or if I don't),...

Re: 50 years of Love

Hey Franklin,

It really helps (me, anyway) if I know what kind of feedback you're looking for...

Helps me if you frame the post with some sort of charge for us onlookers.

Re: Hot Bride and Charming Venu : Our Favorite Type of Weddings!!

Much appreciated (always mixing and matching good script fonts so I was curious).

Great videos. I especially like the mix of linear/nonlinear story telling in the narrative of the first film.

Re: Hot Bride and Charming Venu : Our Favorite Type of Weddings!!

Hey Kelly,

Were there elements you wanted us to consider/critic on? There's a lot of footage there, so any direction would be helpful from you.

Also: I had asked this in your last post, too,...

Re: Vani and Shane | Feature Film - One of my Best

Hey, Franklin, just curious what you mean by "finally something different"... (is that to mean that you find most videos posted here to be similar in style?) Just really curious! If so, it would be...

Re: San Francisco, CA l Same Day Edit l Edited on FCP X l Our Best Yet!!

Great, great work.

I'm curious: what is the font on the vimeo screen-splash image for "May and Allan" if you don't mind?

Re: My first wedding

First off, kudos for using that ambient sound/gorgeous music (she's lovely, too, the violinist). Also, kudos for being bold and keeping the preview's simplicity in line with the simplicity of the...

Re: Our Best Yet -- Would love your thoughts

Wow.

Well I would think Songfreedom would be liable if there were any trouble (as long as you paid them, posted the JPEG slide they provide at the end of the video, etc.). Many folks pay them...

Re: Our Best Yet -- Would love your thoughts

There's several discussions going on here at once, Katie, and I'd love to hear more from Noa on the songfreedom thing because that has big implications.

But, as for the video -- nice work, I'm...

Re: Our Best Yet -- Would love your thoughts

Are you sure about that one, Noa? That would have some pretty major implications.

Greek Wedding Ceremony, sights and sounds etc.

Hi All,

I'm wondering what those of you who have filmed Greek weddings do as far as ceremony audio. As the bride and groom remain basically silent for the ceremony, do you go through lengths to...

Re: Destination Wedding :|: {Plymouth MA} !!

Thanks for the helpful words! Yes, I really love the XF300. It's my main camera for events and is certainly the main ceremony camera for weddings. The T3i has become the details/prep/dark shots...

Re: Saving raw wedding footage for how long?

I've had really good luck with the 3.5'' internal hard drives (eventually stored externally and accessed via the toaster). I've done it for 5 years now and the oldest are still accessible.

I...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

Here's one for you. And maybe it's a new topic, but "when would you intervene with a guest who was sticking out into the aisle taking pictues?"

I'm sure we've all dealt with the scores of...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

It's a very interesting debate here and am important one.

I just want to reiterate, Jeff and others, that's it's not always as black and white as you're describing. In my scenario (again, the...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

Agreed - and that's what I did. But she was still annoyed I didn't whisper something. You can't always win. Even sometimes remaining unobtrusive doesn't win.

And Don, yes, I agree with you,...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

I hear you. It actually wasn't a formal church ceremony with an altar. It was outdoors and more laid back. It's just that the officiant was nervous and/or inexperienced and completely forgot to...

What about my scenario just above your post, Jeff? Would you not whisper to the officiant that the crowd should be seated? (If I had it to do over again, I would -- and the bride would have been...

Re: When would you interrupt a ceremony?

At a wedding of mine last year, the officiant at outdoor ceremony completely forgot to have the crowd sit down. As a result, my second camera had no view of the action (nor did many o the people. ...

Re: Raw footage request

First, I dissuade them by explaining that the "running footage" part of their discs includes 99% of the footage. (I film discriminately, not continuously).

If they still want it, I require they...
