Thanks for your comments. This was the first video I produced that was shown in public (well, before, I once did a 5 min short documentary as part of a workshop and I did some artistic video projection work at an art festival in late 90s).

When the video went up on the big screen for the first time in front of over 250 people, I started seeing that the whole thing should have been more tightly composed. Maybe faster cuts, less headroom or "context" around people, more color variety could have helped.

My mistake was that I only started previewing it on bigger screens (like my TV) late into the game. Seeing it projected on a huge screen at the conference was a bit of a disappointment (and a lesson) for me personally.

Next time I will definitely test an early rough cut on a bigger screen much earlier. It is amazing how deceiving the small preview sizes on a laptop screen can be when one edits and previews exclusively on a laptop. Everything looks so compact and colorful.

The client was extremely happy, so I'm being a bit "over self-critical" here :). Also I consciously did not want to produce something that looked too polished, high tech or "film like". Our whole branding concept for this conference was that net and mobile technologies are about people.

Another interesting fact is that for this minute of video, I shot about 50 minutes of tape. During my initial selection process I had 18 minutes of usable clips on my laptop. It was a real pain selecting just a few seconds from every shot to put together the final video.

yeah, there are definately a few shots that need color correction more than others in the teaser. in the context of the film, the different looks make sense, as each story has it's own look and such but the general consensus i'm getting is in the teaser there needs to be a bit more consistency.

yeah we wanted to throw a variety of different shots in, a few people mention the 2 standing on the sunset as being jarring at first, but i kinda dig the juxtaposition.

I wrote the script for this particular short film, and also lent my Sony TRV-950 to the director who also used his VX1000.

The running time is 14 minutes, but i feel as though it could be trimmed substantially.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it.

The point of the movie is very obscure and more understandable within the intended audience. It wouldnt make sense if i were to explain it but just wanted some feedback on the technical spectrum.

It's indeed a bit on the long side. I liked some things like the
office passing of time shot and the pieces with the tips jar. Acting
was good with some scenes but very bad with others (especially
the main character accusing the "payoff guy"). I also thought it
was a bit over the top for my taste and I really thought the
reason why the guy gets punched is not believable (with his
hands and arms). I would've cut to him straight getting kicked
out instead of her coming to him and all that.

Yeah, When I look back on this particular project I wish there were some way I could turn back time and direct it. There are certain nuances I wanted to include that the written word couldn't achieve.

Plus there is no way the original 8 page script should be 14 minutes long on screen.

The Director handled the source material with a very dark tone, which wasn't my intention at all. I wanted to keep it light, but at the same time have an edge to it.

Oh well, At least something I've written is out there in circulation. Now if only I could get my next short film made. *sigh*

Otherwise, these are pretty effective and convey the message well.

Is this for their website? For the web, I think you should look at the delivery closely. I had to wait some time to get the videos and I'm on an OC3.
