Seems amazing and for still photography even right up there with the a9. Has alot of shared parts & features.I have a VG900 (e-mount) and have been telling myself in a year or two I'll upgrade to the best 4k cam I can, This might become it.

Agreed. Excellent stills camera, loved mine for that, but in no way makes me want to switch back from my GH5. 8-bit 4:2:0 with Slog3 and HLG seems really pointless.

Agreed nice still camera.

I believe it can deliver uncompressed straight from the HDMI port. The 15 stops and 14-bit RAW out might grab some video shooters though. That's if the following info is correct.

Re: Sony A7rIII arriving mid Nov

14-bit raw is for stills, there is no "raw out", and especially not out of the HDMI port. Given the video specs are the same internally, output of the HDMI will be YUV 8-bit 4:2:2, exactly the same as on the original A7R Mark II.

As for 15-stops, Slog3 is where you're going to see anything close to that, but it's meant for 10-bit system, and really struggles with 8-bit. I always recommended people shoot Slog2 on the A7S Mark II, and I think the same will hold true here.

Yes agree with all you say. Call me old fashioned though as I really have no desire to shoot video with a stills camera without ND filters.

Re: Sony A7rIII arriving mid Nov

Figured I would start this up again if anyone has purchased this camera for stills. I am going back to Full Frame for my still work and not looking at this for video. I have great gear for video.
