18mbs, how good is it?
My client(sports broadcaster) wants me to do some testing with the 18mbs codec. We are feeding stories via FTP, and they like the smaller sized files. They already use it for archiving their show highlights, and so far are very impressed.
Does anyone have any technical insight into this codec, and it's weaknesses? The work flow has the files being ingested into a Quantel system(DVCPro HD, I think). I want my client to be happy, but I also want my stuff to look good too. Thanks, Peter Last edited by Peter Newsom; July 12th, 2008 at 06:03 AM. |

Try it and see.
It does do a fairly good job, though obviously it has limitations with fast motion. Be careful with your shooting and it should be okay. It sounds like they have already trialled it and think it is okay, so just go with it. |

Thanks Simon. I'll give a test on the next shoot.
